I was at a social gathering with many left wingers who presumed I was one of them this last week. Somebody gleefully announced that Bachman was out of the race, and recommended the next step was to kill her--although she said it was "not her department" to implement such a thing, she opined she sure hoped someone did. I did not want to get into a political argument because it was not the time and place to get into that...the person I knew better and had gone there with did not hear the whole comment, but did see the expression on my face, which apparently was pretty grim...I did not tell her till later what had happened.

What does one do in the face of this stuff? How can someone politely correct someone so hateful?

First off, you aren’t going to be able to correct them until they go through the Leftist meat grinder themselves to see just how evil it is. You have to remember that Leftism worships death and destruction.

If I was in your shoes I would have played along and said that there are a bunch of Bachmans out there and the number is multiplying like crazy. Then I’d ask how is he/she going to stop all of those ever-increasing Bachmans from taking over. The goal of this is to see if they would honestly voice their opinion that they would organize a mass genocide of Conservatives. Then chime back that Conservatives have lots and lots of guns and they are buying them at a record pace.

Keep going with this repartee to see just how far they’ll go.

I would have told them to F off and I would have done so right then. Our silence is emboldening them, though remaining silent can yield more info for later for strategic purposes.

You could have said loudly (but not yelling), firmly and calmly "You just committed a Federal felony" and said nothing more.
