One can’t help wondering about the mental processes of PaulPersons. The implied argument is that adoption of a foreign born child will result in the adult being changed from American in beliefs/perspectives to those of the culture where the child was born.
PaulPersons are thus arguing that the child raises and shapes the adult.

That was awesome. Thanks. I have been to Gettysburg many, many times and I still want to go back there. I always feel their presence there.
Also visited the Wildnerness and Fredricksburg, among other sites. The cemetary there at Fredricksburg is really chilling. When you climb the hill behind the Tourist Center, you at first only see a few graves. Then, when you get to the top, you see rows and rows of small stone markers with only numbers on them - 2, 3, 5, - the numbers of the bodies buried underneath.
What a sad war - Americans killing Americans.

I’m the father of two girls adopted from China. I have yet to detect the slightest hint of negative reaction from any quarter. I suppose if you flipped over enough rocks, you can probably find some overt racism, but inasmuch as I don’t have a lot of dealings with leftists, I can only speculate.
In fairness, even among leftists the racism nowadays is mostly anti-Semitism.
I put that crudely. To be precise, I don’t think that leftist anti-Semitism is motivated by traditional racism. In fact, Jewish leftists are about as bad as the rest. It’s a political and cultural stance rooted in a rejection of western culture and a badly confused idealization of third world anti-westernism. Not quite the same thing as classical racism. If the Israelis were anti-American and the Palestinians pro-American, leftist sentiment would be reversed.
