A California assemblyman detained for trying to bring a loaded gun on an airplane said it was a mistake, but that he‘s usually armed because of the death threats he’s received for his anti-illegal immigration views.

Tim Donnelly, a Tea Party-backed Republican from San Bernardino

But despite Donnelly’s claim about receiving death threats, neither the offices of the California Assembly speaker nor the sergeant at arms, which provides security for members, said he’s reported any such threats to them or requested extra security, according to the LA Times.

FULAT. We all know how illegal immigration tickles your fancy.

It is very difficult to get a CC in CA. No mention if he is licensed. Maybe Govt people don’t need a license..what is the answer?

There, fixed it.

He still needs a CCW that must be signed by the County Sheriff. I'm not sure which county he lives in, his district has parts of both LA and San Bernardino. As a state legislator almost any Sheriff will sign off on a permit.

It varies by county. This guy is from San Bernardino County, so not as bad as many counties. Link below shows 1,627 active permits in San Bernardino County.

If he was carrying an unlicensed firearm the perverts at the LAT would’ve made a big deal about it.

No. It would be OK. He is with the gov’t. Everyone knows the ruling elite need firearms to protect themselves from the citizens. You know...the 2nd amendment and all that. Oopps. Wait a minute. Maybe I got that mixed up a little.

In this case he seeks to protect himself from non-citizens. But point well taken.

Hard to believe, there are some states, like CA, NY etc, who have such intrusive controlling governments, they can actually prohibit law abiding individuals from protecting themselves and their families. These controlling, intrusive dangerous laws, do nothing but minimize their safety and put millions of these law abiding citizens at great risk.

Of course if this were Joe law abiding citizen, instead of a an agent with the government, they would have been thrown in a cage and face prison time, fines, fees, loss of assets etc.

Big time double standard!

He still has to do a DOJ check to qualify and demonstrate competency with a firearm. That being said, I know the Sheriff in SB does give out CCWs.

But even with the CCW he still has to check the firearm before boarding.

but that he‘s usually armed because of the death threats he’s received for his anti-illegal immigration views.

How come the glaring double standard?

Millions of law abiding people are required, as part of their jobs to go into dangerous inner city neighborhoods and actually perform work. Millions of others are required to make cash/receipt deposits, travel through dangerous areas, etc.

Is Assemblyman Tim Donnelly required to do this?

Not hardly.

I really dislike the controlling government elite dictating who they allow to protect themselves, and who are not allowed to protect themselves.

How is it, those in government are allowed to protect themselves, but other law abiding citizens in certain venues or states are not?

This is very disturbing.

That being said, I know the Sheriff in SB does give out CCWs.

Come on now.

The Sheriff picks and chooses who gets to protect themselves. This is no secret.

It's not based on if one is a law abiding citizen or not.

It's all about who is well connected, are they a business owner who contributes to political campaigns, someone connected to the Sheriff? A county insider who has relatives in high places?

Millions of law abiding people are required, as part of their jobs to go into dangerous inner city neighborhoods and actually perform work. Millions of others are required to make cash/receipt deposits, travel through dangerous areas, etc.

Is Assemblyman Tim Donnelly required to do this?

No!

Is the SB Sheriff required to do this unarmed?

Not hardly.

I don't think anyone questioned that point.

But even with the CCW he still has to check the firearm before boarding.

Nor has that point been disputed by anyone.

In other words, if you do not pass the DOJ check, you DO NOT get a CCW, it does not matter that one is an elected official.
