I think Newt ought to lob this one at Mitt-Witt, something like:

"Any dumb ass who straps their Irish Setter up on the ROOF RACK of the station wagon, and keeps their plush luggage INSIDE with the passengers, instead of the other way around, has NO judgment, NO common sense, and has no business running for President, and I call upon the voters to do to Mitt Romney what his Irish Setter did while sailing down the highway on their way to Ontario Canada for a vacation!"(the dog crapped on the car, one of Mitt's kids said "ewww, Dad? what's that brown stuff flying out the back of the car?" TRUE STORY)

Well, Hell's Bells. You can sit there all you want and talk about a technical definition of amnesty, but the fact is that Newt did propose an immigration policy that allowed illegal immigrants to stay in the U.S. Sorry, Newt, but, rightly or wrongly, that is very easy to characterize as "amnesty," and someone who was truly a savvy politician, as opposed to a motormouth, would know that. It doesn't matter whether it is technically amnesty or not. As presented, it is a policy that many do not agree with.

Bingo! Give the man a cigar...

I really don’t get it. Rush says he hopes Perry will stay in the race. But he also implies that Romney will benefit if Perry stays in and continues to split the anti-Romney vote.

So what’s going on?

1. Is Rush just being rambling and incoherent?

2. Or is he secretly hoping to boost Romney?

I dont know why people think Newt going after Romney is some big help for Santorum.

I would rather vote for the guy with some fire. Not some impish personality trying to slide in under the radar by not having to confront anyone. Clean hands are what McCain, and Dole were all about.

Like what good will that do in the general election?
What is he going to do, hide off in the corner for 5 months?

Exactly, and it’s not like the “negative” ads told any lies, they just reiterated Newt’s record. Wrong Paul put out ads on Gingrich, as well as the pro-Romney PAC. Newt wants everyone to forget his checkered past.

Also, to add ‘hypocrisy’ to his resume, he has vowed to come against Romney with even more venom, I.E., negative campaigning. Gingrich is not a novice to politics, but he is poutingly pretending to be shocked — shocked I tell you -— at how it is done in the big leagues.

Really.

A very inane point. Newt Gingrich was a consultant. He owned 3 companies in 3 states. He had a staff of around 30. He was approached for advice and he gave it. They did not take his advice ..also, the money he made 1.6 million or around there was spread out over years and some was used to pay his staff, office overhead. Nothing wrong with what he did..nothing. Our ex military are hired by the govt as consultants, scientists are consultants, there are many in the private sector that give advice. They are paid well and what Newt made was chump change in comparison. America still practices free enterprise....whether you like it or not

I can’t wait to hear what Newt finds in Romney’s past in an attempt to destroy him. God knows there is plenty of “stuff”, and it seems that Newt’s brain is configured like a relational database with a kick-ass query function. Expect he already has every bit of historical information, and will have no problem going negative. And, even though his wife looks like Geriatric Barbie, I have a feeling she can do some damage, too.

I try to feel OK about Romney in case he wins the nomination, but when I see him speak, I think he oozes smarm. Too smooth and controlled. Buttery voice. Can’t get past that icky feeling. It’s like you know he’s lying about being conservative, and you know he’ll turn as liberal as Bush did once in office. And he knows you know. Still, he keeps talking.

Looks like friendly old “Uncle Newt” from the debates is going to to transform into “Darth Newt”. Anybody that remembers the Newt of the 1990’s knows he's more the capable of playing dirty hardball with the best of them.

Newt did not accomplish what he did in the 1990s by being Mr. Nice Guy. Anybody who takes on the Clintons and goes toe-to-toe and survives and wins a few victories is battle-tested.

Reagan and Bush fought it out only to be on the same ticket.

Betting the outcome would not be the same.

Nope, Newt knows most of us will not support a ticket with Romney on it.

Unless one's a Romney supporter, this great news. Even if he loses the nomination, Newt needs to go down swinging at Romney.

It's past time for Romney to be on the receiving end of the manure he likes to sling.

How about if it came from his aunt or uncle Freddie and Frannie, which was the point.
That is just a stupid thing for Republicans to bring up.

(D)Franklin Raines walked away with $55 Million...(D)Jamie Gorelick walked away with $10 million...Obama recieved more money from Freddie and Fannie in campaign money than anybody ever...then there's (D)Barney Frank and (D) Chris Dodd and who knows how many other Dems.

But here we have clueless Republican dimwits jumping up and down screaming about a measely million or so that Newt "earned"...

The Dems and the media are laughing ther asses off (some all the way to the bank) at the idiots in the Republican party for jumping on that stupid band wagon and ignoring the real criminals ...

The media has not attacked Romney because they want him to be the Nominee. Once he is they will follow the DNC especially Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who has already started to attack Romney

Well it is about time Newt got serious. What I like is that this will force Newt to campaign as a real conservative. Kinda puts his feet in cement so if elected he will be less likely to stray off the reservation. I like a pissed off Newt much more then the gentler kinder Newt. If you are not mad you are not paying attention.

Way too much analysis in the article and the comments.

This is called politics. Some attacks and counterattacks work, some backfire. Time will tell.
