The governor of Iowa, Terry Branstad, was giving the high figure during his Fox interview last night.
Also "Both candidates gave speeches earlier in the night that sounded victorious. ABC News projected that 123,000 people voted in the Iowa contest, the largest turnout for a Republican caucus. Romney got 30,015 votes and Santorum received 30,007."
It was a record turnout as 2008 saw 120,000; 2000 saw 87,000.
Calm down before write Erickson.
Horrible article.
So what is the point Erickson is making, then, with that claim? This column really is puzzling.
Eric Erickson should engage his brain before penning an “emotional” article!!! First of all, the turnout last evening in Iowa was 123,000 voters, the highest ever for a Republican caucus. It does not matter who they were, they are 123,000 American voters. In 2008, The Democrat caucus in Iowa saw over 200,000 voters. Last evening, roughly 25,000 Democrats heard Obama rant!!! Some downgrade.
Fact is: Today POTUS Obama is speaking at an Ohio High School. And....Ohio Democrat Senator Sherod refuses to be seen with or near Obama. Why a high school??? That’s the best Obama can fill up these days. Obama is going to be defeated, come November, 2012!!! If the Democrat Party had any brains at all, it would force Obama to resign or have him announce that he will not be running for POTUS in 2012. Anything less means the Democrat Party will lose both the Senate and House thei coming November!!! Dems better get real!!!
And....Mr. Erickson, you best learn this Pubbie POTUS nomination quest is just getting started, many twists and turns are yet to come. An old boss once told me, “Son, complain all you want, but don’t fire your gun, unless you mean to kill your enemy!!!” Good, effective, sober advice to adhere to, Mr. Erickson!!! As Rick Santorum stated last night, “Game On”!!!
