That’s fine if you are in your home or your car, ...

Came across an interesting video that could save grief if I'm stopped for a traffic violation. The narrator says it helps if you notify the officer upfront that you have a CCW permit and hand him the permit with your driver's license.

Thoughts on that anyone?

“The narrator says it helps if you notify the officer upfront that you have a CCW permit and hand him the permit with your driver’s license. “

Although it is not the law here, it is very good practice. I go even a bit further when stopped, I first remove my DL and CCW from wallet, then registration and insurance card from glove box, next I roll down window and place both hands on steering wheel at the 10:00 and 2:00 positions.

I have been stopped numerous times over the years including three times this last year in DWI checkpoints and have never had a problem with any of the officers.

I’m in Arizona, I don’t think it is much different in New Mexico, I have always done that when I got stopped, the officer always thanked me for telling him.

In some states the law is that you must notify.

In Oregon, there is no requirement to notify and my instructor advised against it.

I have never been asked to get out of a vehicle, but would notify at that point, if it ever comes up.
