Iran: We Will Cut Oil Flow If West Imposes Economic Sanctions

Iran's first vice-president warned on Tuesday that the flow of crude will be stopped from the crucial Strait of Hormuz in the Gulf if foreign sanctions are imposed on its oil exports, the country's official news agency reported.

"If they (the West) impose sanctions on Iran's oil exports, then even one drop of oil cannot flow from the Strait of Hormuz," IRNA quoted Mohammad Reza Rahimi as saying.

About a third of all sea-borne oil was shipped through the Strait in 2009, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), and U.S. warships patrol the area to ensure safe passage.

The message was a bit different on Dec 14.

"We are not concerned that Iran's crude oil will be sanctioned or embargoed," he [Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi] told journalists after a meeting in Vienna of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), which Iran chaired.

If we had a real president, the response would be “And we’ll cut off the flow of oxygen to the Mullahs and their rat faced puppet, Ahmadenijad.” Instead, the one we have will just order another Mai Tai and charge it to the taxpayers.

One Trident missile subarine could easily take care of every problem we have in the Middle East, with warheads to spare.

Or start producing our own oil, which, it is said that we have enough to last for 250 years.

“One Trident missile submarine could easily take care of every problem we have in the Middle East, with warheads to spare.”

This would never happen if we had a blustering dangerous sounding president who mispronounced “nuclear.” The thing the liberals hated most about GWB is that he sounded dangerous; which everybody except a liberal knows means the bully won’t touch you. Obviously, GWB didn’t understand the subtle nuances of the world, like how the Russians spell “reset.” But since Obama has apologized and humbled himself (the US, really, not himself) then it is happening.

But the point is, nobody believes that Obama will order the Navy or Air Force to do anything. This may have some unexpected results for the world and Iran in particular. The Saudi’s and Kuwaitis would be the most affected as far as income and they both have a military. This might actually form an alliance between Israel, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. (Granted, both Kuwait and Saudi Arabia are teetering on the verge of their own “Arab Spring.” But a prolonged embargo with resulting food shortages would send them into Summer in a month.)

Spoken like a true Obamist draft-dodger - or maybe just a nutcase Ron Paul supporter.

Earth to Molson209: we get most of our oil through the Straits of Hormuz.

I hope the hell they cut off the friggin’ oil. Maybe that will force this lame ass administration to allow us to drill for our own oil. Screw Iran.

Even if it were only half that long, we’d figure out the next big thing in that timespan. With the proper leadership, of course.

We still have enough power to destroy the Iranian military with the consequent results being the freeing of its people. The main thing is no boots on their ground. Supply their people to fight the mad mullahs’ military.

We have enough shale oil, coal, LNG, oil, biofuel, methane, nuclear and other energy to last hundreds and hundreds of years at our current consumption or better. We aren’t allowed to utilize most of it, though.

Let gasoline rise to over $5 gallon and the dumb ass liberals who never pay attention will finally take notice and help us dump him.
