Newt Gingrich voiced enthusiasm for Mitt Romney's Massachusetts health care law when it was passed five years ago, the same plan he has been denouncing over the past few months as he campaigned for the Republican presidential nomination.
"The health bill that Governor Romney signed into law this month has tremendous potential to effect major change in the American health system," said an April 2006 newsletter published by Gingrich's former consulting company, the Center for Health

I just saw this on the ROMNEY24/7FOXNEWSCHANNEL this morning. Newt contacted them to dispute it.
Newt is rino just like romney, but people just don’t want to hear about these issues. In the lasymt 5 years, Newt joined every trendy liberal cause. This year alone he attacked conservatives with that “radical rightwinger” screed and pushed amnesty.
Santorum or Bachmann are conservatives. Perry ok too
Newt supported the idea that people should be required to fund their medical expenses - through some form of accessible insurance.
He was not in favor of the Government take-over of medical care.
Drudge has the headline now.
“Gingrich ‘06: ‘Agree Entirely With Romney’ on Health Care...”
It’s top of page, and in red. The only thing lacking is the siren.
It’s over.
Newt is a sleazebag - why is it so hard for people to understand that?
Let’s see. If memory serves... Newt - last year, early this year - said there should be some kind of mandate or you should be required to post a bond. Newt’s acknowledged that he’s be flailing around on this one. The end goal - preventing free riders and getting people covered - has been something that he’s been searching for the answer to. He’s finally landed on a modified Paul Ryan approach.

Gingrich praised the plan of Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney - also a potential 2008 GOP candidate - to extend health care to all its citizens but said it could collapse under the changes of Democratic lawmakers who would increase the cost for families.
Romney vetoed those sections Wednesday.
“If you look at the total cost that the Massachusetts Legislature will insist upon, it will crash and burn,’’ Gingrich said.
Gingrich said those with enough wealth to afford health insurance should pay for it.
“Personally I think that is irresponsible and wrong. If you have the money to afford insurance, you owe it to your neighbors to be protected,’’ Gingrich said.

MILFORD — Munching on canopies and sipping wine, 250 New Hampshire Republicans buzzed about the auditorium lobby, excitedly waiting. A wall of poised photographers and videographers stood at attention, jumping when any new face appeared in the doorway, as if they were at a surprise party.
Suddenly, the room quieted as whispers of “he’s coming, he’s coming,” filled the air.
Then in he strode, grinning ear to ear, the man Republican U.S. Rep. Charlie Bass referred to as “the political equivalent of taking a warm bath in a bowl of soup,” former speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Newt Gingrich.
A mob of people surrounded Gingrich, who, in toying with a possible 2008 presidential run, has made several visits to both Iowa and New Hampshire in recent months. His fans asked him to sign books, pictures and T-shirts, or just to shake his hand.
On this particular night, April 12, Gingrich was the keynote speaker at the Amherst and Milford Republican Committee’s fundraiser held at the Boys and Girls Club of the Souhegan Valley to support local Republican candidates in the November election.
Gingrich’s visit fell on the same day that Republican Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts signed a bill into law that would require all Massachusetts citizens to be covered by health insurance by July 1, 2007, a plan Gingrich praised as “a very important idea with several components that I would recommend to all states.”

Maybe the new book Newt has coming out can shed some light on where he stands on the GW scam.
Have to wait till after the election when the book comes out.
That pretty well sums up what you can expect from Newt.
Not that Newt doesn't have core beliefs.
It's just that he doesn't let them get in the way of his ever-changing priorities.
It will shed some light on where he stood the precise moment in time he wrote the sentence.
