Perry entered the race having just come out of back surgery. Anybody had this and try standing all day, trying to prepare for campaigning, not to mention speeches, when your back is killing you? After hearing this, being an RN, I understand and not only the seeming to be unprepared, but having gone under anesthesia, one’s memory is effected for a few months, so you forget things (he probably knew what he wanted to say, but it would not cooperate and come to the tip of his tongue). Under pressure of a debate, it would be a miracle to get through with no lapses.

Except that Perry hurt himself by publicly defending in-state tuition for illegal immigrants (or criminals as we should really call them) and insulting us on the issue, and you cannot blame that on his back surgery. He signed the bill in 2001, signed additional legislation to bolster the bill in 2005, publicly supported it in 2007 when Republicans were threatening to repeal it, publicly supported it in 2010 during the Republican primaries, and then in 2011, said folks didn't have a heart if they didn't agree with him on it.

That's 10 years, and the last 4 years that Perry has defended it, Republicans have been against it.

He pissed off a passel of folks with his "heartless" comment and that has nothing to do with his back surgery.

If college tuition to illegals is the be-all and end-all to those people in the upcoming election... so be it.

They’ll get what they vote for. And it’d be a pretty clear message that most ‘Tea Partiers’ only give lip service to the small-government, little regulation, pro-growth beliefs espoused by Perry.

If that is the worst you have been called, think again. The current president called American's lazy and speaks to us as if we are a pack of imbeciles.

You keep gnawing on that "heartless" comment like a dog. Maybe you should let it go. As a veteran, you should be more concerned with preserving the freedom's that you served to protect.

As an American, you should look around and see where this country is headed. If you support someone else, fine. However, you really need to give it a rest already. Otherwise, I imagine people sitting at their keyboards are calling you names worse than "heartless."

To harp on the instate tuition makes you sound like a broken record. Perry is strong on 2nd amendment, strong on pro life, strong on tax cutting and smaller less important federal government. Those are the things that are most important to me.

Before he was Governor of Texas he was LT Gov and they called him the bulldog of the legislature because of taxcutting. I like that about him.

As far as the instate tuition I am sure you know that the prospective student had to finish 3 years of Texas skoal and have applied for citizenship. The federal government was not going to send these kids back to Mexico and they can get an education and be productive legal citizens or they can stand on the corner with a plastic cup begging. Your choice would be?
