If North Korea splits down the middle, you’d have the Northeast and the Northwest — and, based on the political geography of the US— I expect both sections would still be Communist.

If it did split into two, the part administered by South Korea wouldn’t remain communist for very long. South Korea would probably slowly incorporate NorK into S.Korea.
