If you began making light bulbs, you would find that the govt would make it too expensive by way of Executive order, or an EPA ruling.

energy efficiency standards that effectively made the traditional light bulb obsolete

The author apparently doesn't understand the meaning of "obselete". The bill would have made them ILLEGAL, not obselete. Incandescent bulbs are perfectly useful, and in most respects vastly superior to the annoyingly slow to light, mercury-filled abominations known as "compact flourescents".

If the factories do not make them, and the stores do not stock them, you have an effective ban no matter what the posturing by politicians.

Now that we’re not forced to buy the new bulbs, I’m sure that their price will come down substantially and quickly because of all the bulbs that are now in the ships that have nowhere to go.

Life is good! Now if they’ll lift the ban on ‘low flush’ toilets, horrible dish detergents, etc etc... I’m soooooo sick of liberals pushing their neurotic beliefs on the rest of us.

Wasn't;t there a light bulb factory in the southern part of the US put out of business due to this insane ban?

Rejoice? It already killed light bulb companies and moved plants over seas. What good is it to recend it now?

The funny thing is that the reason we still had domestic manufacturers is that incandescent lights are too fragile and inexpensive to make it worth shipping them from China.

It’s to little to late. Most, if not all the companies making incandescent light bulbs in America have already closed down.

I’m really fed up with this government. Now they are attacking our ability to use cell phones in cars.

What’s next;

A privacy wall between the driver and any passengers?

Fast food drive-ins to be outlawed?

You can’t drive on Tuesday’s while wearing anything blue?

Where does this intrusion into our lives get stopped?
