“Ramesh Ponnuru, the National Review editor who recently announced his support for Romney, described the consensus on Gingrich as overwhelming.”

Lovely. Thanks for the better alternative /sarc

This is the main problem with Newt:
Rasmussen: Obama 45%, Gingrich 40%

That is the main positive about ANY candidate against the WON! He can't garner more than 50% of the vote against anybody. He will lose 4 out of 5 undecideds at the very least and could lose up to 90% of them. That makes him a loser in any poll.

He is the incumbent, ALL reelections are about the incumbent. Get somebody that can out debate an incumbent and they could win. Find an incumbent that is under 50% and get a good debater and he loses 54% - 46% and loses 40+ states.

“Place ur bet folks......Place ur bets. Anyone really think Obama the communist can be re-elected?”

Yes. Because conservatives looking for the perfect conservative won’t vote but people looking for govt goodies always will.

“Bloggers who have already endorsed Romney now say Newt isn’t the best choice, film at 11”

I am surprised at Newt’s rise because in many ways he’s worse than the former front-runners who have fallen. Think Perry is soft on immigration? Newt is worse. Don’t support Cain because he might have had an affair? Newt definitely had one (two? many?). Think Huntsman is too moderate? Newt sat with Pelosi urging people to do something about “man-made climate change”.

I’ll support Newt if he wins the nomination, but I do urge Freepers to think carefully before supporting him. Personally, I’m hoping Perry gets a second wind, which will require Freepers to pay attention to more than just mainstream-media-led debate circuses.

You're saying it is an orange swirl?

It looks like he has a Cheshire cat on his noggin ☺

Trafficants looked like he had a raccoon up there!

He probably *beamed it up* there. ☺

I do not like the big government, Nanny-State, stream-of-consciousness, spend- spend-spend ideas of Newt.

However, now that the Beltway “Conservative” talking heads show fear and trepidation about Newt’s PERSONALITY, I will look at Newt in a more positive light.

It will take a mean fighter to dismantle, spindle, and otherwise abolish the Entitlement Plantation. Newt may have the “personality” to do it, but I still doubt that he will want to do so before he financially has to.

Whether or not a man has had an affair, is the main qualification for President?

Obama had a fling in Pakistan with his boyfriend, and that’s never mentioned.

It’s war on the hetero male1

Family is full of conservative women. They are not voting for a husband, father, brother, son or nephew....they will be supporting Newt for his positives. They have accepted his failings and apologies.

How’s you candidate fair?

Elections are about incumbents, with the economy and a reelect # @ 45% Obozo is toast.

These people are making my decision making so much easier. When “they” say, candidate A is the one, I scratch him from my list. When “they” say, candidate B is awful, he moves up a slot on my list. The more I look at the people telling me not to like Newt, the more I like Newt.
