epublican lawmakers told Attorney General Eric Holder on Thursday to fire some Justice Department subordinates over the flawed arms-trafficking investigation called Operation Fast and Furious.
At a House Judiciary Committee hearing, Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin said impeachment is an option if Holder does not "clean up this mess" quickly.
Sensenbrenner and other Republicans hold the attorney general responsible for the operation, in which federal agents failed to track hundreds of illicitly obtained weapons that were later recovered in Mexico and the U.S., many of them at crime scenes.
"If you don't get to the bottom of this," there is only one alternative, and "it's called impeachment," said Sensenbrenner, without specifying whom he had in mind.
"Why haven't you terminated the people involved?" asked Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., who chairs the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee that is investigating the arms-tracking operation.
Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said the Justice Department had given inconsistent statements about what Smith called "a reckless and dangerous law enforcement program." Smith said many questions remain about who authorized the operation.
Holder, the sole witness at Thursday's hearing, says it was inexcusable for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to use a controversial tactic known as "gun-walking" in its effort to identify and prosecute major arms trafficking networks along the Southwest border.

Nothing will happen. The communists are in control of American legal system including Washington.
Start making arrests and then deals for information on how high up it goes.
These people are illegal gun runners operating with tax payer money under the cover of authority.
Stop bleating and start jailing.
The list, Ping

As I said on the other thread about Sensenbrenner’s boast, talk of impeachment is just hot air. The RINOs in the house will never bring articles of impeachment, and if they did, the Senate would NEVER vote to convict.
Only three options: (1) Holder resigns, (2) Holder gets away scot-free, or (3) Holder is assassinated.
Nothing is going to happen.

Let Freedom Ring,
Impeachment should be the thing to do, but the congress critters have no backbone to do it.
What kind of stupid advice was that? Organizations like the Justice Dept. are always staffed with underlings ready to be thrown under the bus in order to save their superiors when needed.
They’re setting a trap. There’s a reason holder hasn’t fired anyone, just reassigned them. If he fires them he has to give cause and that’ll lead back to him. He would’ve fired the lot if he thought it could work and this would’ve been done with long ago. It won’t and he can’t. I’m a big believer that the pubs are stringing this out into 2012. And I like it.

“Mr. Issa said Congress has been systematically lied to by department officials, and at one point, Mr. Issa and Mr. Sensenbrenner reminded Mr. Holder that lying to Congress was a federal felony”
