It’s not exclusive to Muzzies.
My freak ex-father-in-law would come into -my- house and go ballistic if I was wearing jeans...or Heaven forfend, *shorts*.
I had to keep a long Amish-like dress around in case he showed up.
*And* I had to turn off my TV and cover my long hair...until one day, he bizarrely asked if he could “just touch it”.
