Gov. Jerry Brown on Monday proposed a ballot initiative that would ask Californians to raise taxes on themselves.
Facing huge deficits despite $10 billion in budget cuts last year, California needs new tax dollars in order to avoid catastrophic cuts to schools and government services for the elderly, Governor Brown said.

he should remember that it was the democrat (demon-crat) in California Senate that SPENT ALL the peoples money foolishly and without plan for difficult times...when the Senate had a surplus...what did they do? They spent IT! Dummies...
let him wallow in his OWN mistakes...Brown and his former democrat senate ALL mis-managed the funds that were entrusted with by the voters...
1. Cut all funds spent on illegals
2. Cut all State pensions by 25%
3. Close 50% of all government agencies
4. Allow drilling
5. Allow fishing
6. Allow dams
7. Allow timber cutting
8. Allow smokestacks to be built
9. Close CARB
Addict to dealer “just give me a little more and I’ll be well”.
Cut your own salary, Moonbeam. I am voting NO twice on this one.
They’re so dumb - they’ll probably do it.
to the California legislature and the California governor.... Do your freaking jobs and balance the budget. Quit playing games with the budget. HELL NO you get not one more dime
You can just about be guaranteed that the ballot box will be stuffed on this one. This government wants the people to take responsibility for what they did and leave them alone. Kick them all out of office and only allow the legislature to meet every two years as in Texas.
Yeah, but they can’t cut services or the budget right??
Allow economic growth in general.
Raise your taxes so retired Union people can continue to have all their toys—their boats and fine homes and trips to Europe. What is a Union for if not to bleed the evil capitalist Americans of their ill gotten gains. Sorry Jerry, we don’t have good government jobs—we pay too much taxes. Remember the Tea Party Thing a while back? It was all about TAXES! Now all the pet projects were Ok when the state had the money—but we are broke now. Some adjustments are needed. Cut spending, cut foolish pet projects like Global Warming— Cut pensions. Etc... do that or the day will come that the only people in the Golden State will be illegals and poor living off the dole.

Where do you think you are? Arizona? (Sarc)
Opposition ad:
Ask not, “For whom the bell tolls?”
“For it tolls for thee!”
“If you think that you’re not “rich” and won’t be affected by Gov. Brown’s proposed tax increase, you might ask yourself “What will happen to the price of goods and services provided by those “rich” who’s taxes do go up?”
“Answer, the price of those goods and services go UP, and YOU pay that tax increase, whether you like it or not!”
It was 1998 when Democrats took over every major Statewide office in California. Does anybody remember who said at the time “Democrats are now in charge of the worlds eight largest economy and now we show the world what we can do with it”?
Good list.
I'll add #0:
Privatize the schools.
Moonbeam remembers that more than half of Californians pay no income tax. He is just asking those non taxpayers to raise taxes on the minority who do.

The question is what is the end goal?
When industry (coal, oil, electricity production, gas, mining, timber, fishing) are all ended and wilderness lands are cut off to humans...and businesses are all nationalized (via taxation, regulation, fees, unions) and there is no private sector, what happens.
Why do people want to kill the goose that pays for them (non-public sector jobs)?
It would be fun to see Hollywood pay more taxes.
Advice to Moonbeam.....take two weeks off and then quit!
