That’s city (tap) water. I know there are freepers in the area to confirm this.

That area must have some geothermal injecting H2S or sulfur into the water table.

You could still break the H2S out with aeration, or activated carbon filtration maybe and add a pH contact chamber to bump up the acidity. Lot of trouble, but still cheaper than bottle water.

The City Water Dept should know how to clean it up. Might want to bring it up at a City Councel Meeting.

The water has been like this since I was a child.(’69) AFAIK it hasn’t changed. I no longer live in the peoples republic of CA. But I do have family still in the area. It’s a running joke everytime I speak with family there. I offer clean, tasty, non-smelling water to drink/shower with in exchange for some of the local foods I can’t get out here in WI.
