Interesting... Romney chickened out of the one on one with Newt... Huntsman figures - I guess - that he's got nothing to lose and it's an opportunity for more face time.

Wonder how Huntsman's performance in NH impacts Romney...?

Wonder if Newt will be able to get any of the others to do the Lincoln-Douglas sit down...?

Looks like Newt’s gonna do a 1on1 with his future VP. Couple of RINO drek!

Strategic mistake on Newt’s part. Letting Huntsman on stage with him one on one raises his stature on a par with Newt’s, albeit just for one night. Why give him a hand up when he is stuck in last place?

Maybe Huntsman’s gesture will take votes away from Romney. Wouldn’t it be awesome if Romney finished 3rd in NH?

Say what you want about Gingrich, his style of campaigning is impressive to watch.

Why bother. Everyone knows Newt is good in the debates. The candidates are better served telling Newt to screw and get out there and run their own campaigns. The only one helped by these things is the man pushing them. If Newt thinks he is getting Obummer to one of these, he is more out of his mind than it first appeared.

Questionable strategy by Newt. He elevates Huntsman who can really benefit from the exposure, and he also opens himself up to attack from Huntsman - no doubt Huntsman will look for opportunities to draw blood.

However, this setup is right in Gingrich’s wheelhouse. There’s no one better in a debate format than Gingrich - especially one where the moderator’s role is limited and the candidates have free reign more or less.

This will make good TV!

The only reason I can see for Newt to elevate Huntsman is so that he can cut into Romney’s NH advantage.

Smart gambit on Newt’s part.

As much as I don’t like Newt, I would sit back with popcorn and enjoy a Lincoln-Douglas debate between the Newtster and the Cretin-in-Chief.

The term “fish in a barrel” comes to mind.

I realized this morning who Huntsman reminds me of: Mr. Rogers.
Oh, and I watched a long news segment on Romney last night, probably 25 or more pictures in different situations flashed during the piece, everyone of these shots he had a white dress shirt on. Has anyone seen Romney in anything but a white shirt and dark pants?

Maybe we need a third party, but NOT at this juncture in history...it's too big of a risk to get obama back again.

Remember, without Perot, we would not have had bill clinton....I learned my lesson on that one, but good.

Hey, what does Huntsman have to lose?

I think he is a bigger RINO than any of our other candidates. Hell, folks, he WENT TO WORK FOR HUSSEIN.

The coward Romney FLED Massachusetts, and
now has fled NH and this debate
to hide like the little girl Mitt really is,
while his surrogates protect him.

With THREE debates in Iowa in a 9 day window, there's no reason Huntsman shouldn't skip one with Iowa not part of his "strategy."

I hope Newt stays composed. Huntsman has a knack for groan-eliciting jab attempts.

I think Romney screwed up on this one. Right now, it is Romney vs. Gingrich, and Iowa is fast approaching. If these one-on-one debates became the norm over the next few months, it would set a precedent which could carry forward to the general election. Obama would be crushed in such a one-on-one format, either by Gingrich or Romney.

Does anyone remember the Saddleback debate? Obama one-on-one with Rick Warren was a Obama's worst debate, and McCain's best.
