In what has become almost a ritualistic rite of passage during the 2012 GOP presidential primary, Newt Gingrich, who has surged to the top of nearly every national and state poll, will meet with Donald Trump on Monday, the day Trumps book, Time To Get Tough, hits stores.
Gingrich has filled the populist space in the polls that Trump ushered in when Trump combined his harsh rhetoric toward Obama while embracing populist economic messages that endeared himself to Tea Party crowds.
According to Politico, which first reported the story, Trump would like to endorse a candidate during the primary season.

I wonder how the conversation will go.
Give me a payoff or I run as independent spoiler!
Don’t think so. I believe Trump is well and truly disgusted with Obama, and really does love America. No way he would do anything to help BHO get a second term.
Should we start a pool? How long until the haters arrive to criticize Newt for even associating with Trump...you know the same ones who thought it was great that Trump gave Sarah Palin the time of day. 3...2...1...
Since when did meeting with the Donald become part of the electoral process?
“Mr. Trump, please do not ruin this gig.”
Probably since Trump announced that if the GOP ran a poor candidate, he would enter the race as an independent. I always thought that was a warning about Romney. Newt is better than Romney but not that far off from him either. Newt is smarter than Romney though, thus the ‘sit down’.
Nuthin’ like fostering the image of the one percenters as representative of the GOP.
If he gets it he'll get a Palin endorsement...likely about a week before Iowa.
I would not be surprised to see Newt pick Palin as VP.
Yes, I'm serious.
What are they gonna do? Argue over whose barber is worse? Trump wins.
Since the MSM decided it, earlier this year.
Hannity kept pressing her for what she liked about Newt but Sarah didn't fall into Hannity’s Rove Trap to get Newt Elected.
Good for her.
FYI - She didn't look too with it tonight. Maybe it was the red fuzzy jammies - she just didn't look like herself.
Trump - a legacy in his own mind.
Every candidate gets to the top of the heap, meets with Trump, and then falls to the floor. Maybe going to Trump isn’t such a good idea.
-—” Sarah didn’t fall into Hannitys Rove Trap to get Newt Elected”-—
I got the opposite impression - she seems to like Newt.
As far as Rove’s trap - you realize he’s working for Romney, yes? Do you have any idea how much Karl Rove dislikes Newt Gingrich? Do you pay attention to ANYTHING that has been going on prior to the last couple of weeks?
Rove hates Newt, and has for a long time. He is about as likely to help Newt get elected as you are.
you say: “A Trump endorsement would help Newt.
If he gets it he’ll get a Palin endorsement...likely about a week before Iowa.
I would not be surprised to see Newt pick Palin as VP.”
I doubt she’d do that trip again right off.
She may well endorse Newt - this clip is a few weeks ago

“Palin: Gingrich Would Clobber Obama In Debates “
Now - should Newt pick her for Energy Sec - that would be a win win...she’d get to make the vital changes we need regarding energy independence - without having to go through the insanity she and her family experienced before.
Now, Newt has mentioned both Col. West and Rubio as VP picks. Rubio has said definitely not.
That would leave Col. West- and that would be a ticket NO ONE, not even hitlery could beat.
Then ;o), 8 years later, in 2020, Pres. West could pick Sarah for VP- and she’d be years removed from the 2008 campaign.
Someone also mentioned that Rudy Guliano - with his record of cleaning up the scum in NYC, would be an excellent AG. He doesn’t back down to anyone either.
And then sick John Bolton on the UN.
Those 5 alone would be incredible - almost like a renewal of the group that founded this country - to save it.
The ‘progressives’ would be toast for another hundred years.
You say: “Palin was just on Hannity I got the impression she isn’t a fan of Newt.”
Why go with your ‘impression” - why don’t you listen to what she has to say about Newt in her own words?

I think you’re right (warning about Romney).
Trump backs Noot or Mutt and we’re toast!

.
The haters are supporting Noot at all costs.
