Obama's blistering fundraising pace

Mother Jones crunches the numbers on President Obama's fundraising pace, and concludes that he has averaged one fundraiser every five day in 2011:

Sixty-nine fundraisers this year by December 1. That's an average of more than one fundraiser every five days. (Though, as Obama's latest New York trip shows, these events are often clustered together on a single day.) This is a blistering pace of rainmaking for the 44th president in 2011.

Obama's fundraising activity surpasses that of predecessors George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. According to Brendan Doherty, a political scientist at the US Naval Academy, Bush attended 41 fundraisers between January 1, 2003 and November 30, 2003. Clinton attended 23 fundraisers from January 1 1995 and November 30, 1995.

After ripping off the American taxpayers for over a $TRILLION, to bail out and buy off various constituencies, you’d expect there to be sufficient kick-back to fund a campaign....

He needs to get the money before the general public realizes he’s not going to win. People need to understand the term “Throwing good money after bad.” Basically, if people are giving money to him, it has to be because they believe that the election can be bought, it’s not because they believe the votes will get him elected because they won’t.

Barry is going to need that money when Newt starts following him all over the country ridiculing and contradicting every word he says. I cannot wait.

Isn’t this partly because -

- He isn’t getting the expected response for his fundraising; he has to work twice as hard because he isn’t getting as much per event.

- His campaign costs are already extreme and his war chest is still rather empty. I suspect he is being ripped off by his campaign staff.

If his fundraising is at this level now by next year he will have to devote all his time to it.

Don’t candidates get to keep anything left over in their campaign fund after the race? Perhaps he is just assembling an early retirement nest egg.

Well he can’t be bothered with doing his job, so what else would he be doing? I guess we ought to be grateful he’s so preoccupied with golf and fundraising. I’m sure he could do even more damage if he chose to actually do what he was elected to do.

They can keep it, but they can’t spend it on personal stuff. They can do as the Clintons did and use it as a political slush fund to support “charitable” and non-profit organizations.

You can’t buy love!

And with high unemployment, high inflation on food & fuel, and a legacy of failure, there isn’t a lot to love about this administration.

Well he did promise us he would “focus like a laser beam on jobs”

He just neglected to mention the jobs he would be focusing on where his job and the jobs of his cronies. The rest of us obviously need to fend for ourselves.

And for administrative costs of those non-profits. I imagine the Wookie will get paid about a million dollars a month to administer the "Obama foundation for fairness and justice"
