USA energy policy only makes sense if USA politicians are on the payroll of foreign oil countries. The soldiers of the USA die, USA tax dollars are spent, the USA military is used; all to defend oil in foreign countries.

America is blessed with vast reserves of coal, natural gas, and petroleum in various forms. Technology is available to turn coal into oil and uranium into electricity. There is no technical or financial reason that the USA could not be completely self sufficient in energy in three to five years.
The only thing lacking is political will.
