You may recall a few weeks back when the Richmond, VA Tea Party, angered that the Occupy Richmond protestors did not have to pay fees or incur other costs for use of the same city park that the Tea Party members shelled out $8500 to use for their rally, sent an invoice to the city government demanding a refund. Now, in retaliation, the city has informed the group that they are to be audited.

More political terrorism!!
Tyranny through bureaucracy!
This doesn’t make any sense. How can a city force an audit of a non profit organization?
The left continues to under-estimate the size and power of the Tea Party.
Yes, we have chosen to remain silent until the run-up to the 2012 elections, but our numbers continue to grow, proportionate to the attacks that continue to be waged on the private sector and our constitution.
It’s as if the 2010 and 2011 election thumping didn’t happen. Do they think we’ve changed our minds?
I don’t know what should be done about the Richmond mistreatment, a protest march may not do much good, though I’m available if anyone thinks of something that could be done.
I can’t wait for 2012.
It’s not a federal audit, it’s an audit of their compliance with city fees or taxes.
.....sooooooooooooooo time to turn their own tactics on them. Go to the local news media; they eat this s**t up. Lay out the whole story.
SOMEwhere in that town is some young reporterette dying to be seen on air shoving a mic in the face of some city administrator demanding answers.
If not? Move. Fast.
Non-profits are usually registered as corporations and can be audited even though it might have a non-profit status under 501(c)3 or similar.
here’s another article about it..........
just another insane Black city mayor.
Even small cities - once they reach a certain demographic threshold - will be cratering soon.
They’re being audited for remitting the meals tax. The RTP isn’t a restaurant. Their permits were for a rally - not to serve food or charge ticket fees to attend the rally.
The comments at the Dispatch about this are unreal. The main theme is RTP is organized and has money so they should pay but Occupy is not organized and shouldn’t have to — it’s almost surreal - even worse than the folks in Norfolk, and more like Wilmington, Delaware.
More ‘gimme your stuff mentality’.
There is no hope.
I no longer think we can turn things around.
I agree - but I’m getting beaten up......SIGH
What a jackass.
