The Palestinian Authority may soon fail financially and cease to exist, its prime minister warned on Thursday.
Salam Fayyad warned that if Israel does not resume the transfer of tax revenues it collects for the PA, the entity will collapse economically and thus cease to exist. Already now, Fayyad claimed, the PA cannot pay salaries to its employees.
Channel 10 News reported that Fayyad made the comments following a meeting with Norways Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. According to the report, Fayyad said that the collapse of PA institutions is advancing rapidly toward the point at which they will stop operating.
We have no money, Fayyad was quoted as having said. Its not about donations or international assistance we receive, he added, blaming the Israeli decision to freeze the taxes it collects for the PA as being the reason for the impending collapse.
A recent World Bank report, while admitting that the PA is undergoing a financial crisis, said the crisis was primarily due to the lack of donor countries fulfilling their pledges to fork over billions of dollars to Ramallah.

Maybe the PA officials can draw on the stolen money that they have in Swiss bank accounts.
Excellent news.
Amazing to me to find out that the enemy of Israel depends on funds from Israel to exist.
Why didn’t the Israeli’s cut off funds years ago?
The court of world opinion is going to divide along party lines and the shortest link to the next check.
How’s a bout each time a single missile is sent over from Gaza the tax remittance fund is set back to zero...and remains at zero for a month.
And while we are at it turn off the fu#king electricity and gas!
At last some good news! Happy Thanks Giving everyone.
If so, let's try cutting off the democraps.
I’m trying to see a downside here. Really, I am.
Look, let’s just cut through the bulls**t once and for all. Isn’t it time to just stamp out these cockroaches and put an end to their....and our.....misery?
Perhaps they need to tax themselves.
Perhaps they need to get aid from the Greeks
IT can't be that simple. (I can definitely be simple.)
If by “those cockroaches” you mean the PA upper echelons and true believers, and Hamas and PFLP and el Aqsa, et al., I’d say yes. But if you mean the Palis themselves, I’d say no. Just make an example out of these crumbums, or better yet help the Palis to do it themselves, and you’ll be surprised how cooperative the Palis will suddenly become. Offer them the option of citizenship in exchange for an oath of loyalty, and likely they’ll studiously ignore it to save their “dignity,” and secretly smile at how few take us up on it.
That is a sacred trust. Bismillah, we must guard it for future generations of our family.
For some strange insane reason this bit of information just tickles my funny bone.
Maybe they can join the EU. There’s an “entity” that is about to self-dissolve. When it does, they can declare it a Palestinian State and burn Vidal Sassoon (Jooo!) products in the streets of Paris to celebrate.
Nothing strange about it. It’s like seeing a house falling and hoping the wicked witch of the East doesn’t look up.
Don’t strain yourself.
I can see the soup kitchens now, “Is this soup halal?
If it wasn’t for the US, Europe and (especially) Israel, the PA wouldn’t exist. They are the welfare queens of the Middle East. None of their Arab “brothers” will bail them out—I don’t think they ever get the funds that are pledged to them. Thanks to their own overreaching at the UN, Israel scapped the Oslo Accord and turned off the $$ spicket. And now the Europeans are too preoccupied with their own problems to care. Of course, I wouldn’t rule out Obama funding them by Executive order. Don’t ask me how he could pull that off w/o Congress, but he seems to be able to get away with just about everything else.
I’d be curious to investigate to see how destitute they are. There might be considerable amounts coming under the table to them, and the Israeli embargo on tax receipts may only be symbolic in effect. I very much doubt they will announce that they quit.
That might be one of the easier scams -- just dip into defense funds.
Where’s the BAD news in this?
Dont ask me how he could pull that off w/o Congress, but he seems to be able to get away with just about everything else.
....................................................
Aint that the truth.
Sounds good to me!!!!
Where is your tagline?
Oh yeah...they are ready for “statehood”. They cant survive a month without being on the dole. What a joke.
At issue is the approximately $100 million a month that Israel collects in taxes and customs duties on the PA's behalf under the terms of the Oslo Accords. These funds go to pay salaries of PA government employees, in particular members of the PA security apparatus, which is responsible for, among other things, foiling terror attacks against Israel stemming from the West Bank. This was posted here on FR but I can't find the link.On Monday evening, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and demanded that the money be released. Netanyahu's bureau only reported that the two had spoken about Iran, preferring not to mention Clinton's demand.
On Wednesday, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called Netanyahu and also demanded that he immediately release the PA funds. Last weekend, White House National Security Adviser Tom Donilon called his Israeli counterpart, Ya'akov Amidror, and explained that the U.S. administration expected the funds to be released immediately. On Monday morning Netanyahu met with Deputy Secretary of State William Burns, who also told Israel to release the tax money.
All these requests came up against a wall of Israeli recalcitrance. Netanyahu made it clear that he did not have a majority in the inner cabinet or in his Forum of Eight to make such a move. He even explained that there would be no decision on the matter until the results were in from the meeting in Cairo between Abbas and the head of Hamas' political bureau, Khaled Meshal, about setting up a Palestinian unity government.
In the background is also Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman's threat to dismantle the coalition if the funds were released, and the stubborn opposition to doing so from within the Likud.
Ya just gotta love these people. They rabidly rally around causes against Israel or U.S. yet totally looking past crimes committed against their own, by their own.
I say tough s**t to all the palimurderers; let them ask the Egyptians and Iranians for financial help; after all, aren’t they their muzzie brothers.
Let them all die in the cold and the dark then let their pedophile prophet sort them out.
I’m trying to see the downside here.
Nope. Not there
I had to check if this was satire from AZConservative or something and OMG IT’S NOT~!!!!!!
The Palestinian Authority may soon fail financially and cease to exist... if Israel does not resume the transfer of tax revenues...
This is a point I occasionally try to make. There will never be an independent West Bank, nor will there ever be an independent Gaza.
All the effort trying to make something so that will never be so only delays the day that we find a solution that could work. More delays mean more treasure wasted and more lives lost, more precious Israelis killed and more deluded arabs killed too.
The west bank has no economy of its own. Separate from Israel, separate from Jordan or Egypt, there is no basis for an independent state either in the west bank region or Gaza. It can only exist while the US and UN and Israel provide it with funds, and if Israel consents to allow its “citizens” access to Israeli markets and jobs.
Its only future is to be absorbed into Israel itself, or to be reabsorbed into its arab neighboring state. As an artificial “independent” entity it has no future and can only be sustained by life support provided by outsiders including Israel itself. It is doomed, in fact, to be what it is at present, a rump state with no economy ruled by outlaws.
(Note to PA: No more bribe money to you.)
lol they compare holding funds to waterboarding . Israel should bill them for every rocket they lob , say about 100 million each.
Please cease to exist ... please let it be so.
BTW Thanksgiving isn’t about eating turkey and getting stuffed , although to many secular American now think it is so. Thanksgiving is about giving thanks to YHVH for all the blessing and provisions he has given us .
Too bad. The PA decided to get in bed with Hamas and it abrogated the Oslo accords when it went ahead to push for unilateral statehood. Israel is not going to give money to an outfit that is dedicated to its demise. Israel needs to stand firm.
I would be real thankful right now if G-d provided me with a boot big enough to kick these PA low-lives out of my country and flat on their asses. Any time after their authority ceases to exist would be fine.
PA Low-lives: Anyone in a position of responsibility within the PA.

Offer them the option of JORDANIAN citizenship with FORMAL REGISTERED ALIEN STATUS IN ISRAEL in exchange for an oath of OBEYING ISRAELI LAW, OR DEPORTATION...
/fixed it..
Jordan of course will totally go along with that.
Think so?
