BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Two men visiting Alabama to protest the state's tough new law on illegal immigration walked into a U.S. Border Patrol office and said they were in the country illegally, resulting in their arrest. They remain in federal custody more than two weeks later awaiting deportation proceedings.

Border Patrol officials said they were only doing their job in arresting Isaac Barrera, 20, and Jonathan Perez, 24, Mexican men who lived in California before coming to Alabama to demonstrate against the state law.

Now they get a free trip home. Good planning, I guess, with the high cost of fuel.

... The Alabama Youth Collective is trying to stop the deportation of the two with a campaign called "Bring Isaac and Jonathan Home for the Holidays."

Hey, I agree, so long as the campaign is called "SEND Isaac and Jonathan Home for the Holidays"

Wait till immigration finds out that they’re not really illegals...I say this is a money grab.

IF the Border Patrol or ICE does what it is SUPPOSE to do, these critters in theory have waxed their chance to get AMNESTY, and when they go back to apply for legal entry will get NIXED. At least for decades that was the policy, if you had been arrested and caught, you were black listed and couldn’t apply again for a visa for entry.

We need to allow the states to deport. We also need to allow states to contract to deport for other states. Texas and Arkansas would be great locations for deportation camps and they could charge a fee to states who send them captured illegals. Even the incompetent, ineffective federal government could send illegals to them for deportation.

Why would anybody want to be a U.S. Border Patrol Agent? Too many powerful enemies on both sides of the border.

Welcome to Alabama.

I moved here 5 years ago and regret not doing it sooner.

I love it here.

I put out a new American flag yesterday and a neighbor thanked me.

Refreshing.

Two men (...) walked into a U.S. Border Patrol office...

Sounds like the beginning of a joke.

And here's the punchline:

They remain in federal custody more than two weeks later awaiting deportation proceedings.

LOL!
