I bought a Sheriden Blue Streak around 1973. It was .20 or 5mm caliber and was quite powerful. I have little doubt it would penetrate a soft pine board.

I don't think so, max velocity from the Blue Streak was 675 fps. Even cheapest of the single stroke springers have velocities of around 1,000 fps.
