Last week a Hooters server stepped inside a Florida school to talk with students about her job for a career day. Now a parent at the school is outraged, and people are asking whether it was appropriate for a woman who works at a restaurant known for its sexy waitresses to speak to a group of students.
Hooters is a national restaurant chain that’s known for its hot waitresses who sport tight tank-tops and orange short-shorts. It’s a place where men like to go for wings and jugs (of beer).
But Hooters server Brittany Morgan, 23, wasn’t sporting her uniform when she spoke to students about her career last week. She looked perfectly wholesome in sweat pants and a sweater, and her talk focused on the benefits of working as a waitress. It’s a job that you can do while attending college, emphasized Morgan, who has plans to study psychology.
Morgan also discussed the importance of looking presentable at work and said that a waitress needs to wear clean shoes. And she shared details about the charitable work Hooters does for the community.
Morgan was a guest speaker at Calvin A. Hunsinger School, a K-12 public school in Clearwater that’s attended by 130 students with emotional and behavioral disabilities. She was invited to speak for the Great American Teach-In, an annual day when adults talk to students about their careers. Morgan was among a machinist, an employee of Toyota, and some teachers who discussed their jobs. The principal has struggled to find adults to speak about their careers at her small school, and she felt a waitress was appropriate because many aspiring teachers wait tables while they’re working on their teaching credential.

They should be teaching these kids to sleep in tents in public parks and to defecate on bank steps. This “job” business is just bunk.

Cute girl who works for a living. Say what you like about Hooters waitresses, they make a living instead of infesting our parks with trash and human waste. They’re far better role models for our kids than the OWSers will ever be.

If you're saddled with the name Brittany Morgan, and you have any job that doesn't involve riding a pole, you're a hero in my book.
A school had a porn star reading to kids? Sheesh.
That was my first thought, as well. WORKING. Not sitting around complaining. Not figuring out all the ways to game the system and take our money.

I could eat mozzarella sticks and drink beer , onion rings, some chili, a burger,, oh yeah , keep it comin’.
Right. And didn’t one ex-hooters become ceo of Cinnabon?
benefits? I don’t know.. as a career for a few who pull in the big tips,, I hear ya..
And slinging wings in that outfit is only a small step up from working a dance pole.
