It smells. Police usually investigate the facts and present what they find to the DA to determine whether to prosecute the case. Statute of limitation strikes me as a legal call that ought to be made by the DA, not the police.

Maybe there are more victims the police have ignored and they don’t want it public. This might be a child sex ring that involves others the cops don’t want to expose.

People have made a grave mistake in playing down the seriousness of the sexual abuse of boys, like the Catholic church did. They tell themselves that the boys can handle it like they are made of steele or something.
