Business Insider ^ | November 19, 2011 | Henry Blodget

Posted on 11/19/2011 8:29:28 AM PST by Kevin in California

University police tore down tents at UC Davis yesterday afternoon, arresting 8 students in the process, Xeni Jardin of Boing Boing reports. At one point, to clear a path to reach students that they had already arrested, they pepper-sprayed a line of seated, quiet protesters. This video, which shows the pepper-spraying, is going viral. This comment, from venture capitalist Chris Sacca, sums up what lots of people who watch it are thinking: Seriously. Right now. Stop what you are doing, watch this video, and reflect on what it means to be American.

Yeah, you may see a Tea Party protest at the steps of the SC if Obamacare is upheld. However, I can ensure you the protest will be orderly and not disrupt the lives of others.

You can take that to the bank my friend.

Oh, please. Maybe because pepper spray is what you use on punk kids who are blocking other people’s way.

LMFAO. Are you kidding? You respect the police state?

Who? Holder? Napolitano? The TSA? The ATF?

Tell me which one of these esteemed “law enforcement” agencies you respect and tell me why?

when the Tea Party gets sprayed like this, you wont be laughing as much.

That's just not going to happen...the Tea party abides by the law...if they were told to move on by the police they would do so...furthermore they would not be edging the police on as these groups have done from the get go. Nor would they be getting in officers faces as these idiots have and do.

When the time comes, if it comes for the Tea Party to take a large stand again...it will not be met with this type of force...history has shown they remain civil and out those among them who try and incite otherwise...the police know this.

The union thugs that are the real enemy force in this country back the OWS movement and pay for it. They back the student demonstration, as a support of the OWS movement. They finance the presidential campaign of the Occupier of the Oval Office. They get kick backs and protection from Congress and the White House for their hard work on behalf of the DNC.

Why don’t you direct your anger at the union thugs that are destroying us with the help of the Washington Beltway, instead of fussing about these pitiful human beings that want to steal from hardworking Americans instead of having to grow up and earn a living?

OWS is a FAILURE. Don’t give them a second chance at legitimacy.

I agree Kevin, though of course we know the opposition will try to infilitrate it and stir up trouble, but the Tea party people deals with them as they make themselves known....that those people are NOT with them.

I agree - the Tea Party never is as stupid as this. This kids are morons and naive dopes.

HOWEVER - I also don’t support this type of garbage from the police either.

You had a dozen or so cops standing around and the one spraying these kids. hhhuuuhhh????

Are these people not trained how to handle this without pepper spray or sand bag bullets?

And finally - obama is behind this! He knows protesting kids around the nation that is not for his re-election IS TERRIBLE FOR HIM.

And when we protest him in the future - regardless of anything - we will be stomped out too.

If indeed they did shoot these protesters and/or rapped them across their faces with nightsticks, then you’d have a valid argunment Glock. That didn’t happen!

They peppered sprayed a few punks who refused to get out of the way so they could clean up an encampment.

The union thugs are the police and they share a mutual beneficial relationship with OWS protestors.

One group gets tons of OT, maybe a disability discharge and fat pension, new toys to abuse people with, etc.

The other group gets to claim martyr status, get on the news, get recruiting and fundraising materials. ETC

Anyone supporting the cops or the students, is getting played for a fool in this. Both groups, the cops and these kids - love this crap.

To be honest - I can’t stand either group.

“when the Tea Party protests start up again, or we get a decision on ObamaCare at the USSC we dont like and protest it at the capital or other places - we will be treated exactly like this - count on it.”

On April 15, 2009 I was among other like minded people when we took over the City Hall parking lot in our town and held our first Tea Party event. We were far noisier that these guys sitting on a sidewalk.

Just because I don’t agree with someone doesn’t give me the right to think they should be treated differently. Our police should treat us all the same and I don’t want that treatment for me at the next Tea Party protest.

If we lived in the kind of society that many of Davis's students idolize and wish to bring about the protesters would be bloody flat spots with tank tread marks on them ala Tiananmen Square.

They are fortunate they have been thus far unsuccessful in achieving that aim and that pepper spray with a few hours in the pokey is all they'll get for their efforts.

Hell, this will boost their street cred immeasurably. You are probably looking at the future Governor and Legislators of The People's Republic of Kalifornia!

I am trying to look at the bigger picture here thinking how the Tea Party people will be treated next time there are town halls, loud protests, etc and Obama unleashes his goon squad.

Its easy to mock OWS people, and I do it all the time - they are morons and fools - but understand that there are issues involved here as well other than just wiping the floor with some moron kids.

I really believe what? My statements were FACT...I wasn't speculating on what may or may not happen in the future...

The students want legitimacy.

They want to use a moment like this as victim status. They want to ramp up the motions of the people and make them give second thought to their treatment and their position.

If violence breaks out, you must know that the White House relishes it.

If you give too much weight to this incident, people will start to identify with “those poor kids”, instead of remembering that they aren’t simply kids or pepper spray victims.

They are useful idiots being used by the Marxists.

Protests and rallies happen all the time over a whole host of issues. Most are done in an orderly fashion. OWS are not protestors. They are anarchists trying to shove their political message down everyones throat by any means necessary. They are very arrogant and think their message is more important than everyone elses. It’s the arrogance and entitlement thats disturbing. They are even trying to compare their movement is as important as civil rights so these tactics are justified. I guess regular rallies are not good enough for occupy because their complaints are more important than everybody elses.

Sure the cops are trained in other ways.

Manhandling them into cuffs and dragging them away to jail.

You think that would have been better?

Correct! And the cops just gave these kids what they wanted on a silver platter made for TV and a few more news cycles.

Again - what the cops did was DUMB DUMB DUMB both from a public perception point of view as well as realistic point of view since they are giving these kids EXCATLY what they want.

Smart way to deal with this would be lock the doors to the bathroom, unleash a bunch of roaches and spiders near these idiots, etc and watch them disburse in minutes.
