If Romney is the pubby nominee, a third party run by Sarah Palin would insure a huge conservative trunout and sweep amny down ticket spots away from the democraps. Thus even if little barry gets re-elected his ability to ruin the nation would be stymed, hopefully four more than two years.

The GOP needs a longer-term vision than just anti-Obamaism.

Elsewise, it will so disintegrate that it'll never be concentrated enough to pre-empt Dems from heading into the White House.

What's worse than Obama in the White House in '13? (Answer: Dems in the White House the rest of the 21st century)

“Is Romney more conservative than Obama? That is the question.”

The answer to your question is pointless.

It is the same as asking “Would it be better to be stabbed with a six inch knife or a nine inch knife”?

Either one is going to hurt, either one is going to kill you.

So why not reject the binary choice you THINK you are faced with and choose something else?

Why do you think the RINOs want to win?

When have RINOs ever wanted to win, anything at all? They are happy with Obama, and they are happy screwing over the rest of the conservatives by sticking us with RINOs.

“consider” doesn’t mean will.

Yes. I thought about that as well. It at least means that anti-Romneyism is on their radar screen-- and with enough intensity...considering the RINOs comments...ya know, those who want to stampede scared anti-Obama voters into voting for a RINO.

I totally agree. AT the end of the last campaign McCain was praising Obama as a good guy who’d be a good President and bashing oil company profits.

The fix was in.

Al Sharpton is more conservative than Obommie the Commie. The Tea Party Revolution is new but it will gain momentum. I am voting republican in the national election straight down the line. America cannot afford 4 more years of Obama...not only supreme court nominees (potential) but federal judges being appointed. We need to pave the way for a Demint, West, Palin, Bolton presidency.

“Ronald Reagan wouldn’t be good enough for a number of people at Freerepublic.”

How DARE you compare Romney to Reagan.

That’s chickencrap and you know it.

Grow a set of testes and quit running scared of the big bad boogiebama.

Voting for a liberal socialist is always a bad idea, just as bad an idea as voting for Obama.

And you can drop the “A vote for a third party is a vote for Obama” baloney. A vote for somebody else is a vote for somebody else.

It is high time the Republican Elite get the message that we will NOT have their insider big government socialist RINO’S shoved down our throats. It is high time that the Republican Party learns that they need the Conservative vote to win. We are NOT on their plantation like the blacks are on the Democrat plantation. We won’t be dictated to while we are simultaneously ignored. Screw that and screw them.

And if you really think we should vote for Romney then screw you too.

I think we should respect either point of view. In the very unfortunate event that Romney wins the nomination (I believe he’s going to fade), each of us will have to decide what is best. However, Romney supporters should seriously keep this poll in mind if they manage to drag his sorry, flip-flopping butt across the finish line. They might very well end up winning the battle only to win the war, because for every two voters like me who will hold our noses to vote for the nominee, there is one who will sit the general election out.

Bottom line: nominate Mitt Romney at your own peril, moderate Republicans!

Here you are correct. If Republicans succeed in taking both houses of Congress and Mitt should become President, the malleable Mr. Mitt would revert to compromiser and as leader of the Republicans, would thwart the needed restructuring in a pursuit of a “kindler and gentler” Republican party in his quest for mediot approval.

Exactly. If this is going to be the "new GOP test" disguised as real thinking, then hey, a reincarnated Hitler might be "more conservative" than the Anti-Christ...and we'd have posters like Sideout Fred vying for him were the two to run against each other!

You send mixed messages. You warn the republicans not to run a rino immediately after saying you will vote for whomever they put on the Republican line.

You make no sense. You contradict yourself.

So, what are you? A Conservative or a Republican?

Romney is positively radioactive to any real conservative. His lack of movement is an obvious indicator.

"Greta, those people talk a good talk, but in the end, they'll tuck their tail between their legs and vote for Mitt Romney just like they voted for McCain! We know what's good for them!"

Rove, are you that stupid? Or just that arrogant? You insult the TEA Partiers in every manner possible and then expect them to meekly fall in line and do your bidding.
