people didn’t take the appropriate precautions to prevent the preventable “accidents.”

True. I had a guy that ground off all four fingers on his right hand, to about an inch long (below the middle knuckle) in point two three seconds, running stick and cope on a shaper with a six cutter stack. No safety covers, bad machining process, and wearing gloves.

The thing is, I caught him doing the same crap a couple of weeks earlier. Stopped him, ran through the safety procedure and jig making process. Then I told him if I caught him not following proper procedure again he would be instantly terminated. He didn't listen.

After his "accident" he sued workman's comp. and got a big settlement. Went out and bought a Harley. 2 months later he died riding that bike.

Can’t fix stupid.

But Darwin can.

The sad thing is, his family misses him. He was stupid, he ignored the safety precautions that are there to PROTECT HIM, and he suffered the consequences. And then he took it to the extreme, lost his life, and now it’s his family who is suffering the consequences.

Sad, tragic, and stupid all at the same time.
