Tension between the United States and China spilled over into meetings of Asia-Pacific leaders on Friday as the two countries jostled over how to handle competing claims to the South China Sea.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said "outside forces" had no excuse to get involved in the complex maritime dispute, a veiled warning to the United States and other countries to keep out of the sensitive issue.

"It ought to be resolved through friendly consultations and discussions by countries directly involved. Outside forces should not, under any pretext, get involved," Wen told a meeting with Southeast Asian leaders, several of whose countries claim sovereignty to parts of the South China Sea.

It’s not needed to be reported in the LSM...after all, we all know that the Cretin-in-Chief will bow to China.

Just as he bows to everything else that moves.

I loathe the slimeball.

"...Outside forces should not, under any pretext, get involved,"

Of course the strongest party in the region would feel this way.

The remark is the latest barb between the two countries in recent weeks, and comes as President Barack Obama has sought to reassert U.S. presence in the Asia-Pacific to counter the growing influence of the world's second-largest economy, China.

Boy, whose side to take here? Its a sad day when a US citizen is perplexed over choosing between the the Red Chinese commie boss and a usurping, phony, felonius _resident of the White Hut.

Why in the hell should we stick our noses into the issue of the South China Sea? Don’t we have more than enough involvement in every corner of the planet? It seems like we go out of our way to piss off as many people as we can .... and for no good reason.

Yes, you are correct.

Ref.: Proverbs 22:7, "The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave of the lender" (NRSV).

Good thing that cowboy isn’t President anymore so that all those other countries will love us now.
The Democrats will let the Chinese crap all over them and proclaim it’s a new beauty treatment as long as those Chinese bribes, er, I mean, campaign contributions keep rolling in.

You ask why? Well to start the major Chinese submarine base on Hanian island opens into the South China sea. Next, the other countries that ring the South China Sea, like Vietnam, offer a counterweight to Chinese hegemony in a maritime region that sees 5 trillion dollars of trade pass yearly. Finally we do not want international waterways to become a Chinese lake. These are for starters.
