The man accused of firing shots at the White House has been charged with attempting to assassinate President Barack Obama. Oscar Ortega-Hernandez, 21, made his first court appearance Thursday in Pittsburgh. [snip]
Law enforcement searched for Ortega in the Occupy DC camp in McPherson Square before catching up with him in Pennsylvania. Family members in Idaho reported him missing on Halloween. On the day of the shooting, Arlington police detained Ortega and photographed him after a resident said he was acting suspicious, but he was released.

We recognize the shooter must be from fantasy land; but do the prosecutors have to join him there?
I believe that with a decent criminal defense lawyer representing him the prosecution might just get their heads handed to them if they try make this charge stick. Charge the guy with most anything else and they might have a chance. But then this is just IMHO. I believe there is a big gaping hole in the governments case.
So years from now, will he be considered a hero like Claus von Stauffenberg?

This guy was characterized as a kook and he probably is one. But if a kook tried to killan evil despotic leader years ago, would that be unjustified?

Lincoln was killed. This guy shoots at a bullet proof building when Obama wasn’t even in it and he attempted to assassinate Obama?
I don’t think so, but then they did hang Mrs. Surratt.
