Just never understood what people saw in it.

When I asked about that, the posters explained that they were on drugs at the time. And maybe they were in junior high school, unless they're quite old now. I liked Barry Manilow when I was in 7th grade.

“I liked Barry Manilow when I was in 7th grade.”

Barry has a heck of a voice. But I'm a (normal) guy so can't really like him!

I liked Barry Manilow when I was in 7th grade.

His schmaltz reputation notwithstanding, Manilow is a very talented tunesmith. In the 60s he wrote some very famous commercial tunes, including State Farm Insurance ("Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there..."), and Band-Aid ("I am stuck on Band-Aid, 'cause Band-Aids stick on me!").
