Islam defenders like to say that honor killings are a cultural inheritance from certain countries, and not a part of the religion. What they neglect to mention is that the honor killings are always for perceived violations of Islamic law, and the killings themselves are totally excused by the same legal authorities. So if it is a cultural phenomenon, it’s not an Arab, or a Pakistani, or an Afghan cultural phenomenon, it’s a Muslim cultural phenomenon, and the Muslim religion is responsible for that cultural, and therefore for these heinous crimes as well.

Boogieman, well said! Might I add too the islamic excuse is also... that "honour killings seem to stem from a cultural pride in uneducated families that are non-religious If only uneducated non-Muslims engage in this practice, then why does an entire Muslim country legally permit honour killings under its existing judicial system? Article 340 of the Jordanian Penal Code states that "he who discovers his wife or one of his female relatives committing adultery and kills, wounds, or injures one of them, is exempted from any penalty." We to imply that the entire country of Jordan is made up of uneducated and non-religious people? I, for one, do not want islamic honour
