Saying they have concerns about emissions from the coal burning power plant at Mt. Tom and potential health effects on Holyoke and Northampton, organizers led by the Sierra Club are trying to get the state to impose tougher standards on the plant's operation.
"Big coal does make us sick. We are asking that the Mt. Tom plant stop making money by making us sick,'' the Sierra Club's Drew Grande said at a press conference Thursday near the Holyoke YMCA building.

The Sierra Club——I wonder what the loal residents have to say. You know: the ones who will have to pay for the improvements through their extra cost fuel bills.
To the Sierra Club: Get back to me after you’ve disconnected yourselves from all electric power and fossil fuel reliance (that includes of any and all plastics, including pharmaceutical products, by the way).
IMO, the Sierra club 8is one of the most subversive organisations going. It is right on a opar with the Global Warming crowd.
Every member & contributor to the Sierra Club needs to have their electric consumption limited to 2/3 of the average American household.

Well then it would make sense to let coal fired boiler operators make incremental improvements rather than forcing them into an all or nothing, huge ticket decision, wouldn’t it?
