A Texas gun instructor who made headlines with an ad in which he said Obama supporters and Muslims are not welcome in his class is kind of, sort of backtracking off his statements.
Crockett Keller's radio ad has gone viral.
"If you are a socialist liberal and/or voted for the current campaigner in chief, please do not take this class," Keller said in the ad. "You've already proved that you cannot make a knowledgeable and prudent decision as required under the law. Also, if you are a non-Christian Arab or Muslim, I will not teach you this class."
The Texas Department of Public Safety reached out to Keller, who told them he would not discriminate against anyone.
"Crockett Keller affirmed that he would not refuse concealed handgun license instruction to anyone based on national origin, race or religion," said department spokesman Tom Vinger in a statement. "The investigation is closed. DPS will have no additional comment at this time."
However in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Keller said of the Public Safety statement, "It was not a retraction of anything... I will definitely use a tremendous amount of discretion when it comes to who I will teach how to use a weapon."
He said he would evaluate would-be students on an individual basis.

I have turned down business from Democrats and liberals in my line of work, which is helping Republicans and conservatives. Surely discernment and fine discrimination are positive values?

He is absolutely correct! But then, most of the gun whiners don’t get licenses anyway ... they just whine that the police didn’t protect them.
Free country he should be able to train or not train whoever he wants......it’s not like it used to be, everyone is able to find some one to provide any service!!!

I wonder how much of that “reaching out” by the State authorities involved “enhanced interrogation techniques” or explaining in graphic detail what would happen to him, his business and / or family should he refuse to serve or discriminate against any of Obama’s loyal peeps - like Muslims and useful OWS idots, or fail to issue a prompt public apology for even suggesting that he might.
They probably looked his shop and records over and found a few things that, at their bureaucratic discretion, they could fine him over a million $ for and permanently strip him of any and all licenses he might have, should he fail to “cooperate”.
No doubt their colleagues in the BATFE could have found about a million $ worth of even more “infractions” if they were invited in to take a look around.
There always seems to be room in prison for another political prisoner or two, you know - as probably this Instructor knows. - At least now he does.
They obviously made him some kind of an offer that he couldn’t refuse - which is exactly what I expected.
The government has it’s ways of persuading people to come around to their way of thinking.
