In parts of Pakistan today, women are viewed as property and are believed to personify the honor of their families. If a woman goes against the will of her family, for example, by choosing her own husband, family members may feel that in order to restore their honor, they have to kill the woman--a so-called "honor killing." A few women are able to escape this fate and find refuge at shelters.

Sounds like a typical Middle Eastern Male mentality to me. Males can sleep around, smoke, drink, talk loudly like roaring animals, and never feel like they need to justify their actions. BUT, if you are a Middle East Woman, prepare yourself to justify every aspect of your life when asked.
That’s because women are property in that religious culture and as property their actions affect the man’s standing with Allah.
The “men” do as they please and figure they’re good with Allah if the women are held to the strict rules.
Personally I think muslim “men” are a bunch of hypocrites, morons and cowards.

Could not have said it better myself. That’s been my experience thus far. I might ad one additional word to yours.
Those Moslem heroes really take on the tough fights, don’t they.
Their culture includes murdering women, taking hostages, bombing civilian targets, and using human shields. But every time they face a battlefield situation with other armed men, they scatter to the wind. They have some nerve talking about “honor.”
