I know a lot of Pro-ife groups are now saying that life begins at fertilization instead of conception, which is totally wrong. For those of us who are Catholic, Mary was the Immaculate Conception, meaning she was conceived without original sin on her soul. It’s not called the Immaculate Fertilization. This means that our souls enter our bodies at conception.

What’s the difference? I was always under the impression that the two are synonymous.

Conception is the moment when an egg is fertilized.

“This means that our souls enter our bodies at conception.”

I am a Protestant but I thoroughly agree with that sentence.

A distinction without a difference.

Fertilization = conception
