Republican sexual harassment furor boosts Obama

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The longer the Republican presidential hopefuls battle over sexual harassment claims against Herman Cain, the better things look for President Barack Obama as he mounts his campaign for re-election.

Cain has been accused by at least three women of sexual harassment when he was head of the National Restaurant Association in the mid-1990s, claims that have been front and center in the Republican nomination race since the news web site Politico reported them on Sunday.

The rare instance of infighting in a party known for its unity comes just as Obama, a Democrat, is gaining some traction in opinion polls and the U.S. economy is showing signs of improvement.

"Obviously Team Obama wants the Republican field as large as possible for as long as possible," Republican strategist Ford O'Connell said. "The more they duke it out, the more ammo Team Obama has going into the general election."

Cain said he is innocent of the claims and accused rival Rick Perry's camp of being behind the story, which Perry has denied.

The disputes between the Republicans come as opinion polls show voters are responding well to Obama's push for his jobs bill. A poll from Quinnipiac University this week showed that 47 percent of Americans approve of Obama's job performance, up six percentage points from early October.

BALONEY!

Cain is ridin' high!

The (intelligent and decent) American people see these attacks for exactly what they are! Cain's doing better than ever!

Well, the Republican Party has never been known for its unity.

Aside from that, however, I think Cain’s charges against his rivals have basically sunk our chances of getting a good candidate this time around. He has made this all about him and his cult of personality, and nobody is even going to care what our candidates say about the issues anymore.

What a ridiculous story.

I just deleted everything I typed. This is just stupid beyond words in so many ways. Not worth the coronary.

To shore up more of the homosexual vote, maybe the media ought to research the history Obama has at a certain bathhouse in Chicago.......Obamas Baath Party.

Took me about a minute to find out if this broad Zengerle has an agenda or not:

Reuters recently ran a piece that analyzed persistent race issues amidst the Obama presidency, and managed to take a racial swipe at the Tea Party in the process.

As always, the piece diverts attention away from the President and toward conservatives. Any controversy involving the administration is portrayed as a mere distraction for the President in his alleged post-racial presidency. The analysis draws a conclusion that the ‘right-wing noise machine', conservative groups, conservative media, and the Tea Party/NAACP debate are all implicit in creating this racial distraction - and ultimately taking the spotlight off of Obama and his ‘biggest achievements'. (Is consistently usurping the will of the American people an achievement?)

But what stands out in the article (h/t NewsBuster reader Texndoc) is an obvious misstatement of facts. An implication that racist imagery at Tea Party rallies is prevalent, has been presented as truth. Patricia Zengerle, the White House correspondent at Reuters, writes (emphasis mine), "Images such as Obama with a bone through his nose and the White House with a lawn full of watermelons are often displayed at Tea Party rallies."

If we bail out on Herman our enemies will get to choose our candidate AGAIN!

They try it every damned time.

No matter who we rally around they will take down conservative candidates one by one until all we have left is THEIR CHOICE!

"Obviously Team Obama wants the Republican field as large as possible for as long as possible," Republican strategist Ford O'Connell said. "The more they duke it out, the more ammo Team Obama has going into the general election."

GOPers said exactly the same stuff as Obama and HRC were tearing into each other back in 2008. This fissure in the GOP will help Obama in the short term, but the picture is going to look a whole lot different once the GOP settles on a nominee.

They’re also scared spitless of running against Cain.
They’ll actually have to argue based on merit instead of using the skintone shield to deflect all criticism.

I think I’d rather get a table dance from Nancy Pelosi than hear about Obama’s homosexual hi-jinks.

I don’t know if the Today Show invited Bachmann under false pretenses or not, but she just now spent the first 5 minutes of Matt Lauer’s interview refusing to answer ANY questions about Cain, LOL. NBC is so full of jerks.

Reuters via Yahoo articles always seem to be based on some sort of magical mushroom sidetrip.
