After a week of gaffs from Gov. Rick Perry, his wife Anita is left picking up the pieces and playing damage control on the campaign trail to steer conversation to policy issues.
“I’m really proud,” said the first lady of Texas at an American Spectator gala in Washington, D.C. “He put himself on the line and is withstanding the fire because of love of country.”
Perry has been in the line of fire, rather, since Friday when allegations surfaced that he delivered a speech in New Hampshire while intoxicated. Though event hosts are defending Perry’s sobriety, his lucid speech was not his only gaff of the week.

She’s definitely the driving force in the Perry household.

Her ambition knows no bounds.
A “week of gaffes”. Which, according to the paper, is “two”. One in which he used a quote from a satire site as an illustration (his son sent him the quote, and apparently didn’t tell him it was satire).
The other “gaffe” was his rousing, well-received speech Friday night. Which the paper alleges he was ‘intoxicated’, when anybody who watches the entire speech will clearly see he was not. Only the specially edited version makes it seem there is something odd.
But a speech is not a gaffe, even if you believe it really is odd. There was no statement he made, even during the “odd” part of the speech, that was false or in error.
So really, the only “gaffe” was using a satirical quote in a speech about hard work. And the quote worked for the speech, and was an accurate depiction of hard work. So not really much of a gaffe either.
But I realise you need to do something, anything, to take your mind off the two new claims made against your candidate, now that he painted a target on his own back by daring people to come forward to accuse him of bad behavior.
One of those claims comes from a conservative Iowa talk show host, and deals with inappropriate language he claims he observed from Cain this year. It will be interesting to see how Cain handles THAT one. My guess is he’ll just try to blame Perry again, even though the talk show host hates Perry.
I don’t know why your anger is so intense against Gov. Perry. The anger should be against Obama.

That's just not true. I don't know if the man he was drunk or not (my guess is he wasn't) but I did watch the speech and there was definitely some very odd about his behavior. My Perry supporting office manager thought so also and she loves him.
Well, gotta talk about something until somebody else comes rolling out of the Cain Clown Car.
It is so sad...We are up against probably the worst president and Marxist in American history, and look at what we have got...

can rally behind.
Looks like the Republicans will go into Nov. 2012, still fighting and back-stabbing each other.
Look at Sarah, probably as qualified and smart as all the others put together, but between the Communist media and our own side, she was driven into the ditch, and left to rot.
The same will be done to any good and decent conservative American.

Calling Gov Perry slimy sounds like you are angry and does Not show common sense. I am Texan too.
Why is it that only Texans are allowed to criticize Perry without unleashing a firestorm?
