I understand Rupert Murdoch became a Christian some years ago...interesting that he will now own a huge chunk of the Christian publishing business. Zondervan and Thomas Nelson are very very big in that niche.

Fascinating! I never would have guessed that 1 out of every 2 bibles had his fingerprints on them.

Assuming that Rupert Murdoch is, at least, a nominal Christian and respects the Bible and wouldn’t change even a jot or a tittle, what is to stop some future board from making changes of a subtle nature and over time, bigger changes, when they own such a massive share of the market?

The purchase, which is expected to close later this year, will bring 213-year-old Thomas Nelson under the umbrella of one of the world's media groups and the owner of fellow Christian-oriented publisher Zondervan. Company officials on Monday said both companies will maintain separate operations, but did not comment on possible layoffs at Thomas Nelson, which employs about 600 people.

Ping for later

Fox and Friends this morning talked about our country motto. In God We Trust, they put up an on-line poll to suggest new mottoes or keep this one.” —seemed odd

I note that Thomas Nelson publishers is coming out with a new “translation” of the Bible called “The Voice”. It’s yet another dynamic equivilence commentary masquarading as a translation like “The Message” or the “NLT” or the “TNIV”.

Matthew 5:6½: Blessed are those who watch O'Reilly at 8pm eastern and Hannity at 9pm eastern, for they shall be informed.... hey, I don't remember that from older versions of the beatitudes.

Ah yes, the media guy the yellow, proglodyte, corrupt, journalists love to hate. Without Murdoch the old media monopoly would have expanded its corruption to continue fabricating news for the plebes. We all owe Mr. Murdoch a huge debt of gratitude.
