Rick Perry giddies up in New Hampshire, and the Internet delights
The Dallas Morning News ^ | November 1, 2011 | Christy Hoppe

— Rick Perry gave an odd speech in New Hampshire. Then again, it was oddly Rick Perry.

The video of his speech Friday to a conservative Christian group has gone viral — not as viral as Mark Block pitching his boss Herman Cain while smoking a cigarette, but then, Perry doesn’t smoke.

The Perry video, however, has spawned similar amounts of interest.

Perry begins the speech with a riff about how much he loves the motto of New Hampshire: “This is such a cool state, I mean, c’mon: Live Free or Die. You gotta love that, right?”

Understand that this is a macho man who has lived his entire life under the Texas state motto: “Friendship.”

During the speech, he has a case of jazz hands. They’re everywhere: — over his heart, fists to his chest, waving by his shoulders, pointer finger up, folded prayerfully and thumbs up, gigging half the crowd.

A couple of interesting articles from the Dallas Morning News ‘Perry Watch’ today. Not exactly puff pieces but not too bad, either.

Despite your snotty reply, I suggest you read the whole article. The author obviously knows Perry and kinda likes him.

FWIW. I know the NH speech was well received by those in attendance. So trying to be animated and entertaining at this point might be a good strategy. More important. Time is running out for Perry. Just acknowledging his poor debate performances doesn't help at all. If the Governor wants to regain lost ground, he needs to come prepared and in fighting form for those next 5 debates.

Brit Hume gave a fair and balanced review of the speech on Fox News.

He pointed out that over 600,000 had seen the 8 minute excerpt on Youtube but only 290 had seen the full 26 minute speech.

Two word unfunny yet snarky posts are generally the sign of a weak mind or a weak argument. In this case in may be both.

I’d rather have a candidate that can stay sober in public.

Animated and entertaining? His behavior seemed more like erratic and embarrassing.

I am sure he got a standing ovation from the crowd of Perry Supporters, but honestly in watching the whole speech he seemed in and out of it.

Timing is everything and Perry need to give us the shtick or whatever brought out this “side” of Perry.

I believe this was Perry’s Howard Dean moment. It is over for him. The only suspense is who he will he take with him when he unleashes $50-million worth of negative advertising in Iowa, NH and SC. He will be going after Romney for sure, and Cain if he survives his current problems. There might just be an opening for Newt now.

We’re kind of in agreement. Difference is, I was being critical of Perry. You were being obnoxious.

All the candidates have had their ups and downs. Even though Cain’s supporters aren’t willing to admit it, the last couple weeks have been an embarrassing time for Cain&CO.

I watched the SHORT CLIPS and the the FULL SPEECH. Perry did a good job on the FULL SPEECH.

There is a OBAMA DRUNK speech on YouTube that is a regular speech but slowed down slightly (easy to do with video software) - sounds like a Drunk.

Be careful before you believe what you see and/or hear.

“I believe this was Perry’s Howard Dean moment...”

Clearly true, and he wasn’t competing with Huntsman to bring up the rear of the pack, this would be huge news.

But, at this point, he still has a lot of money, which is why FR keeps getting flooded with this garbage.

(and note that Newt is doing much better than Perry now, but doesn’t go to the level of spamming websites)

If you watched the entire speech, you would have seen that he wasn’t drunk and that is was a good speech. But you are too lazy. It’s easier to believe a lie.

Hey, I was easy on him. Most of the comments said that it was a combination of pills and alcohol.

Give me a break.

I loved it. I watched the full version twice. I wish more candidates would liven up their speeches.

What was you saying about polls yesterday? You remember, right? Shall I dig up the link for ya? Better yet, go back to pretending that you’re a Cain supporter.

The MSM is giving Rick the Palin treatment to destroy his chances of being elected, too. And it looks like Fix News has swallowed their bite of this very poison apple also.
