If you read the article you will see that while they did carefully fail to mention Dem perps by name as they did Republicans, they clearly said that both Greenspan and President Bush tried to put the brakes on Fannie and Freddie.

This is one of the very RARE occasions when they're NOT yelling Bush's fault.

I hate to defend AP who is usually campaigning for Rats and against Reps, but THIS TIME they told the truth about Bush trying to stop the scam and named several Republicans who also tried to stop it, including some Republicans I didn't like (E. Dole, McCain, Hagel...) but I have to give them good credit for this.
