Amid new polls showing Michele Bachmann far behind the leaders in the GOP nominating race, the Minnesota presidential hopeful showed no signs of losing heart Sunday on ABC's "This Week" with Christiane Amanpour.
"We're doing exactly what we need to do," Bachmann said. "We're looking forward to January 3," the date of the Iowa caucuses.
Her comments came as a Des Moines Register poll showed her with 8 percent support in Iowa, down from 22 percent two months ago.

Despite her expressions of confidence, Bachmann dodged Amanpour's questions about whether Iowa, as some of the congresswoman's own top aides have said, is a must-win state for her.
"We're focused on it as we are on all the states," Bachmann demurred.

You gotta know when to fold ‘em.
She’s not leaving the podium until they bring out the hook. I’m seeing that now.
Reached her zenith in the Iowa straw poll and has been plummeting since....she is just not playing well aand should gracefully withdraw.
If she wants to continue making a fool of herself, so be it. Perry has deep pockets to keep him in the race, Newt has made steady progress, Ron Paul has the Paulies, but Bachmann has nothing to fall back on.
She, Santorum, and Huntsman should drop out.
She will continue to attack Perry in order to impress Romney in the hopes she can at least be his #2.
Does Klobuchar have an opponent?..she should run against her for the Senate
With only a couple of months to go befoere the caucus, she may as well play it out. Iowa should be her high-water mark. If she doesn’t at least show, she will drop out after the caucuses.
Romney would not put her in the ticket. Romney might go for Bobby Jindal
I like her and wish her well.
Bachmann & Santorum: soon, even less money will be coming in. And they will be left with only their core supporters, as their marginal supporters leave. And the daunting task of 20 states voting in March will be upon them. And they will disappear whether they want to or not.
Huntsman is throwing it all into NH. If he gets 15% there, he gets a 2-week extention and then folds up after or before Florida. He is doing a good job in NH, but there’s a limit on how many people want to support a dull candidate that doesn’t stand for anything. He probably won’t get out of single digits there.
