Perry’s tax plan is very good - WAY better than 999.
Unfortunately for Perry, I don’t really think policy is his current problem. In fact, policy doesn’t seem to be driving the polls hardly at all. As silly as 999 is, Cain has come across as a “happy warrior” and people like him. Perry has not come across well, and I think based on his debate performances many conservatives simply do not like him personally.
On paper Perry is very good on most issues, but there is now a likability deficit that is plaguing him. First impressions are super important, and Perry has to hope people will give him a second look as we get closer to the actual primaries. He will have the money to run a lot of advertising, so that should help.
Personally I think he is the only candidate that can actually stop Romney, so I hope he really improves going forward.

I think Perry will be the nominee. People haven't really had a good look at the guy except through the prism of the so called debates. I'll admit he didn't come off looking great in those, but they aren't the end of the story...as many around here wish that they were. Perry's got money in the bank and that will translate into media buys. Let's see how the ads he's starting to roll out do. Let's see how the economic plan that he's just starting to articulate resonates with the voters once they get to hear what he's offering.
Perry's the guy that Buckley would support if he were still alive. He's the most conservative candidate who can win!
No it isn’t Perry’s plan is awful. No one I know likes it or his position on illegal immigration
No way! Perry’s plan will quickly become a 40 or 50% flat tax! And it will apply to everyone!
Worst. Plan. Ever.
Drug dealers pay nothing under Perry’s plan. Same for Newt’s plan.
Prostitutes keep 100% of their money under Perry’s plan. Same for Newt’s plan
Millions illegal immigrants pay nothing under Perry;s plan. Ditto on Newt’s plan.
Another factor is that many (myself included) look on him as "Bush III". That may not be true, but it "is" a real perception.
