Is this legal? Imagine if Nixon (or any other Republican) had done this.
To: Texas Fossil
Is he still receiving royalties on the book?
I assume he is, and if so, should this not be a conflict of interest?

High School libraries where it will be required reading just before graduation (just prior to turning 18)
This also smells of kickbacks, and taxpayer-financed price supports for O’s book

The structure and the presidency of the United States is an integral component of representing the United States overseas, Mr. Clay said. We often use books to engage key audiences in discussions of foreign policy. Mr. Clay is a bald-faced liar. $70,000 of my money was spent by these sycophants to kiss up to the boss, and there is nothing more complicated involved here. Somebody at State should be fired for this; instead, they'll be promoted.
To: ladyvet
Its embarrassing to have the book in the dollar bin. Has to buy them to save face..
To: Texas Fossil
Out of control administration (what next?).
.......”A review of the expenditures in a federal database did not reveal any examples of State Department purchases of books by former Presidents George W. Bush or Bill Clinton. The purchases of Mr. Obamas literary work mostly, but not always, took place in the months after Mr. Obama captured the White House.
Leslie Paige, a spokeswoman for Citizens Against Government Waste, a watchdog group, said if the federal government is looking to cut costs, eliminating purchases of Mr. Obamas books is a good place to start.
Its inappropriate for U.S. taxpayer dollars to be spent on this, she said. This sounds like propaganda.

Did Obama pocket his royalties on this $70K in book sales?
