I don't care if Rick Perry walked on water. He has always been pro illegal alien and corrupt taking tens (hundreds?) of thousands in gifts and vacations from supporters with his “pay to play” schemes.

RE :"Perry is working with Pelosi and Bush on immigration reform?"

Not unless some suckers elect him as POTUS. I am sure McCain and Graham-nesty will jump on board again too.

You see, this is a mis-conception.

No one pays the college tuition for those children.
They have to pay their tuition - it is just reduced.
Same as all Texas Residents (3 yrs) whether they are from a foreign country, Oklahoma, New Mexico or New York (if in TX 3 yrs for foreign legal or illegal and I think 1 year for kids from other states or kids in bordering states that are close to the state lines)

Not one taxpayer dime goes to pay their college tuition.

However, if your talking about K-12 grades, that is Federal Law.

If you flatten a cowpie, it’s still manure, and it still stinks.

The income tax is fundamentally flawed no matter what you do with it.

Get rid of it. Period. It’s a blight on liberty.

“if Perry doesn’t believe in protecting America’s borders and by extension, its sovereignty.”

Can you prove he does not believe in protecting America’s borders?

It is easy to criticize when you don’t study an issue and substitute repeated untruths spouted about a gazillion times on FR.

He [Perry] is not a Texas Dictator.

But...but... Rick Perry, all by himself, created thousands and thousands of jobs in Texas. That was the original pitch as to why we were supposed to elect him. Only after his campaign collapsed did he hire Forbes to put together a tax proposal. LOL.

Do you mean the Mormons where 12 of those same men you feel so sorry for were charged with sexual abuse of little girls - with the consent of those same mothers?

You mean Warren Jeffs’ Mormons?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2022139/Warren-Jeffs-trial-Heavy-breathing-sex-tape-3-wives-including-bride-12.html

You mean the FLDS who were marrying off their little girls at 12 years old to old men, and consummating - and - recording the consummation of - those marriages in front of a gang?

“The sounds of crying followed as he then says: ‘Just don’t think about the pain, you’re going to heaven. The world’s view of sexual relations is selfish, the celestial view is not.’”

Rather short sighted at best. 48% with absolutely no skin in the game, then adding to that is NOT what builds a society or a country.

"Because you have a lot of African-Americans located in cities like Detroit —disproportionately —it would encourage businesses to stay in business there or to move there,” Cain told CNN. “It would encourage people to work there, because if you live in the empowerment zone, you’re going to pay a smaller percentage in taxes.”

Affirmative-action taxes.

“By the way, any plan that doesn’t completely tear down and flat-out eliminate the IRS, a Terrorist Organization if there ever was one on American soil, can hardly be considered “great.” “

I agree. The existing structure has to be kept in place for those who choose to file under the existing system. And who would do that? Why, those who are able to take advantage of all the “loopholes” and special tax breaks that have been written for them byby the lobbyists and bought-and-paid-for politicians. What’s to stop the next group of politicians from continuing to write special provisions in the income tax law under the existing system to advance social goals and incentivize and diincentivize peoples behavior like they do now.

I’m with you - don’t leave the existing code in place too if you are going to do an overhaul of the way we fund the Federal Government.

Yes but that is the most important issue for me. That goes to trust. To adamantly say you won’t run if reelected (NO, NO, NO in one debate) then turn around and do it tells me all I need to know about his character. To think so little of your constituents that you put your ambition before the people is just terrible. And from what I’ve heard it was his wife talked him into it. That brings up two other issues. What kind of 1st lady would she be if she cares so little about the people her husband is supposed to be serving if she can gain status by going further up the political ladder. And if Perry has so little backbone that he can’t stand up to his wife and tell her he won’t break a promise he made to the people of TX how is he going to stand up to congress & foreign leaders?

His explanation for why he does the whole in state tuition thing is understandable. I don’t like it but I don’t live in a border state with a federal government who refuses to do their job.The vaccine issue doesn’t either except the unholy alliance between him, his former chief of staff, and the drug company. Crony capitalism is one of the things that’s killing this country and taking away the voice of individuals.

There’s also the issue of corruption. The trips and gifts Perry and his family have taken paid for his backers and special interests would make Cook County politicians blush. Pay-to-play has been a Perry trademark as long as he has been in politics. Name a more corrupt governor.

...the only proposal anyone wants to hear from Perry, is his proposal to ditch his discounted tuition for illegal aliens stand.

The big push is on to destroy everyone but mitt. We are our own worst enemies.

The plan Perry has put out is so all encompassing. He covers the tax code, entitlements, spending controls and regulatory reform including the end of obamacare and Dodd/Frank. He actually could get this through Congress with Pubs in control. When interviewed tonight I loved Perry's response to saving banks. He said NO, this is why we have bankruptcy laws. If it's too big to fail it's to big.

Cain has a great life story and probably is a solid conservative. There really is no way to tell. He changes his position on issues so many times I have no confidence in him. Also, as the debates wind down and organization and television advertising becomes important he is going to have difficulty.

Given the choice I'm with Perry.

Just to correct the record. Perry apologized for the “heartless” remark. Time to move on, bucko. No one in Texas or any other part of the country is paying anything to educate the children of illegals in the Lone Star State. And Perry says he wouldn't support Harry Reid's national “Dream Act” as President.

Never seen so many thin skin whiners on FR at one time. And holding a grudge serves no good purpose whatsoever.

I think all conservatives would like to see the IRS go away forever. In an ideal world, that would happen. This isn't an ideal world.

Before Perry can implement his "Cut, Balance and Grow" plan, he has to win the nomination and then beat Obama. Two big challenges. But Perry's plan is a great tax reform proposal, nonetheless.

Hellbender doesn’t understand that Air Force pilots who take off and land C-130’s over and over for years must be fairly intelligent.

Did you see there is a $12,500 per individual deduction when submitting your tax under the flat tax method, and that applies to both children AND adults.

A family making $50,000 with two children would have a deduction of $50,000.

In other words, a family of four with an income of $50,000 a year has a lot more to use for their own family now!

And that doesn’t take into account the other deductions available to people such as:

Eliminate Tax on Social Security Benefits
Eliminate Tax on Dividends and Capital Gains
Eliminate Death Tax
No Federal Sales Tax or Value-Added Tax

________________________

There is also a really good article from Human Events today that showed how the flat tax would probably help middle class families the most and that middle class income earners would probably be the highest “takers” of the flat tax.

Except the burden will only be borne by those with a job. A fair tax means that everyone have a stake in the country. Even those on welfare.
