Two Kenyan jet fighters have crashed after colliding over southern Somalia, Press TV reports.
The two fighter planes crashed between the towns of Kismayu and Qooqani, a Somali military officer told the Press TV correspondent in Mogadishu on Tuesday.
The jets were heading to the southern port city of Kismayu after targeting the positions of al-Shabab fighters in southern Somalia, the officer added.
On Monday, a Kenyan jet bombed an al-Shabab base near the port in Kismayu, an al-Shabab stronghold.
Kenyan troops began an air and ground offensive against al-Shabab in southern Somalia last week after Nairobi accused the militants of being behind several kidnappings of foreigners carried out on its territory, including the abduction of a French woman who later died in captivity. However, the militant group has denied involvement in the incidents.
Kenyan troops are now preparing for a new operation, in which they will attempt to capture the key southern town of Afmadow, which is controlled by al-Shabab.
The Somali government has said it is "unacceptable" for Kenyan forces to be in Somalia without Mogadishu's approval.
Do they still have the two or three RVN DDs they got after Saigon fell?
They still have 3 corvettes, several LST’s, and a handful of patrol boats that formerly served in the South Vietnamese Navy. All of the other vessels have been decommissioned and sold for scrap.
I didn’t see that.
What’s the MO? Destroy the native’s means of survival, drive them from their land, herd them into ‘refugee’ camps (as this one in the North of Kenya,) and presto, instant ‘rebel’ army?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
1) Destroy the native’s means of survival ( economy),
2)drive them from their land,
3)herd them into ‘refugee’ camps (as this one in the North of Kenya,)
4) Create the “enemy.” ( study classes, ideology)
5) Engage in paramilitary training
6) Issue Arms
and presto, instant ‘rebel’ army.
"Illinois Senetor (USA), Sen. Brack Obama and Mohamed Wali (Mandera East Candidate, Kenya in 2007)"
Somali born ex marine (with valuable military experience?) ran for election MANDERA-KENYA in 2007.
Wasn't successful, but where is he now, I wonder?
Thanks for that very detailed update.
Thanks for the enlightening update. My sense is that the region is about to become a lot more dangerous, thanks to the Islamists who are about to take power in North Africa.
There is still no other confirmation about the story from any other news source apart from the Iranian report. If two jets had collided it would have been reported by now (a helicopter had crashed on takeoff a week ago, and that was widely reported and names given - thus it is difficult to believe two jets would crash into each other and nothing is said). I think this is wishful thinking by the Iranians trying to support their brethren in Somalia.
This is exactly the case, Obama has had intel connections with Northern Kenya and its politics all throughout his own career.
IMHO, Obama will now try to massage the Somalia / Kenya war so the Luo tribe ( Muslims) will bring Kenya under sharia law.
Obama is moving to construct the old Egyptian caliphate and its dependencies.Libya was a Keystone.
Obama also wants to destroy any surviving political institutions which are remnants from the colonial era, installing in its stead Barak Obama’s fascist neo - colonialism, which is his calling card: Theocratic race based nationalism. He is a nationalist socialist, ie, a fascist.
And THATS what we have in the White House: Rot from within.
Now Obama will “save” Kenya from its enemies, and then liberate it, allowing the destruction of much of Kenya’s present economic base, leaving it in ruins, just as Libya was left.Odinga and the Luo will ascend. That is the plan.
Obama is pursuing much the same policy by allowing the destabilization of Southern states from violence in Mexico and its drug war, hoping to destroy the Republican party in places like Arizona and Texas.Obama is a man who loves borders and loves to destabilize them.It is key to his strategy at home and world wide.
