SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. — Gov. Rick Perry of Texas is taking significant steps to redefine his candidacy as his battle for the Republican nomination intensifies, including unveiling a tax overhaul plan that would give people the option of paying a 20 percent flat tax on income.

.........Among the new faces who are joining Mr. Perry’s campaign is Joe M. Allbaugh, who managed the 2000 presidential race of George W. Bush and will be a senior adviser to the campaign. Mr. Allbaugh served as a director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency in the Bush administration and has been a longtime associate of Mr. Perry.

Tony Fabrizio, the pollster in Bob Dole’s 1996 campaign and in a variety of other races, also will join the campaign as a senior adviser. Stanton Anderson, who served as the general counsel to Ronald Reagan’s 1980 campaign, will be the campaign’s liaison with Congress. Fred Maas will be a senior adviser.

Mr. Perry’s media strategy will be directed by a team that will now include Curt Anderson, Jim Innocenzi and Nelson Warfield. The men have worked on national campaigns and have been deeply involved in the advertising effort that is set to begin this week.

Mr. Perry’s aides have indicated that the ad campaign is imminent; they have been hinting for some time that it would begin this week or next.

And then, there’s Mr. Cain’s 9-?-9 tax plan which rewards the very areas that are Democrat-controlled and and rife with corruption would be the places that Cain proposes to put “empowerment zones.”

How long ‘till the corruption sets in, with favored, *more empowering* “empowerment zones” that favor the current powers that be?

LOL--Perry is becoming a giant for the camera lens. For example, Perry's ankles are as tall as Steve King's knees:

Maybe he can bring in Juan Hernandez from the McCain 2008 team?

How about a graphic of Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price, former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, or the Mayors of Washington, DC, or Atlanta saying “Empower me!”

That would be more “racist” than this graphic, huh?

You could use Former Houston mayor Bill White or the current mayors of Houston, San Francisco, or even Chicago, I guess.

That’s it! Lets “empower” Rahm Emmanuel!

Let’s get people off welfare and back to work and get those working under the table to pay in some taxes. Yeah!

I’d rather give people a chance to get off welfare and off unemployment, than continue giving illegals a free pass.

Cain said he’d make it so that they need a super majority.

"I’d rather give people a chance to get off welfare and off unemployment, than continue giving illegals a free pass." Who wouldn't? Empowerment zones in the most corrupt areas of the country is just asking for big government, and more corruption.

A month ago, Reid needed a super majority to change the rules in the Senate. No more.
