I agree. I am a little disappointed in how weak this proposal is.

No kidding. I think we pay about 17% before deductions. We're barely making it as it stands with both of us being teachers... This proposal is crazy. Worse it's .... it's .... heartless!

That may be true, but it’s also very misleading. Russia also has very high payroll taxes similar to our FICA and Medicare taxes, and they basically drive their combined “employment-based” taxes (payroll plus income taxes) through the roof. In fact, they’re so high that one of the common practices in Russian business is to figure out creative ways to compensate employees without paying those onerous taxes (providing apartments, cars, etc.).

I think nearly the entire former Eastern bloc too. 20%? These guys just want to rearrange the deck chairs.

I like the "for families making less than 500K a year part" and the "can choose the 20% with the deductions." Don't know if Russia does that? Do you? What does that bring the percentage down to with deductions? Anyway...We may not agree on the plans to get the US out of this sink hole we are in but the energy plan Perry has is a great start and his going to do it first thing! Not a back burner item for him...and getting rid of the EPA instead of restructuring. Mindless boobs run the EPA and its needs to be stopped not restructured.
