Oakland orders Occupy protesters to leave plaza
San Fran Chron ^ | 10/21/11 | Demian Bulwa

Posted on 10/21/2011 12:37:18 AM PDT by raccoonradio

Oakland officials Thursday night ordered protesters inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement to vacate Frank Ogawa Plaza outside City Hall, where hundreds of people have lived since Oct. 10 in an elaborate tent city complete with a kitchen, a school and a medical tent.

A document titled "Notice to Vacate Frank Ogawa Plaza" was posted on the city's website at 8 p.m. by the office of City Administrator Deanna Santana. It said Oakland was committed to allowing free speech, but also had a responsibility to protect public safety.

"We believe that after 10 days, the City can no longer uphold public health and safety," the notice said. "In recent days, camp conditions and occupants' behavior have significantly deteriorated, and it is no longer manageable to maintain a public health and safety plan."

Violence cited

The document cited fire hazards, sanitation issues, a growing rat problem and graffiti. It referred to an "increasing frequency of violence, assaults, threats and intimidation" and complained that protesters had denied access to "emergency personnel to treat injured persons and to police to patrol the Plaza."

"As a result of these serious conditions, the Administration has determined that facilitating this expression of speech is no longer viable, nor in the interest of public health and safety," the order said. "Peaceful daytime assembly will continue to be allowed between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily. No tents or overnight camping permitted."

Why would officials ask their entire voting base to leave?!

If you sit and think about it....back in the 1960s...we didn’t have a huge deal about sanitation. Most folks knew somebody they worked with....who only took two baths a week or such. Today....sanitation is a huge deal. I think the locals in Oakland stood up and just said that they weren’t going to stand around and allow something to stink up the place.

Well they didn’t want them to kill each other. Then they wouldn’t get all that state and federal funding for homeless, welfare, crazies, felons, illegals, druggies . . .. Don’t want to cut off the cash flowola by reduced numbers.

How can this be? In leftist land this should be the home spot for all these looney libbies.

How very undemocratic of these Oaklandites

Protesters angry at economic inequality have sought to establish a mini-society in the plaza free of government control, and some have spoken of occupying the area for many months. They have established perimeter patrols in an effort to keep out police officers...

Whatever gave them that idea?

There was an ‘Occupy Grand Rapids’ protest in the small park across from the police station, where these people usually have there protests, about 4 days ago. It seems to be gone, not due to anything the police have done, but to the high winds, near-freezing temperatures and driving rains we have been having.
Sometimes bad weather can be beneficial

Yep, I wonder what will happen with the Occupy Wall Street and Occupy (fill in the blank) crowds as the seasons change. Are these people still going to be camped out in December and January when it’s snowing, and/or below freezing with wind chills below zero???? Just wondering.....................

Poking around the lefty sites I hear they are planning on regrouping over the winter and will be back when the weather warms up. Could be a violent summer leading up to the election.

Local News coverage this morning(from outside the rat infested squatter village). Protestors say they aren’t leaving...they have their own ‘government’ inside the village. I smell riots coming. They will not allow police or media inside to see what is going on.

This morning’s coverage starts at the 4:13 mark and ends at the 5:56 mark for those that want to watch it here:

Hmmmmm...after yesterday’s Breitbart tip about the white KGO ABC reporter being threatened by a Occupy Oakland protestor saying: “We Shoot White Bitches Like You Around Here”

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2795640/posts?q=1&;page=51

....ABC in Oakland has sent out a black reporter to cover the story:

Video here:

http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/video?id=8400405&pid=8400403

So instead of reporting the threat made to their own reporter who was white....they just sent out a black reporter. Our media in this country is pathetic!

Why would officials ask their entire voting base to leave?!

Because the whole world is watching, and starting to figure out who their voting base really is.

A “growing rat problem” is whenever one more of their kind shows up to “occupy”.

All part of the plan. The police have to use force to remove the fleabaggers who resist both physically and verbally and try to provoke an incident with the police. Meanwhile, people are getting it all on film which is then used to misrepresent the event via propaganda videos like this:

Awe....CBS in Sf is their biggest cheerleader....even promoting a wedding today of a nephew of Cesar Chavez..the famous union goon. How sweet...(eye roll)

Don’t expect the SF mayor or city officials to do anything today...wouldn’t want to interfere with the wedding plans.
